I think you would notice some serious issues if it actually consumed that much fuel.

I think the fuel estimate calculation will fluctuate based on changing conditions.

that's right, cold engines will use shed more gas. my old 28 would do less than 30mpg until the temp needle starts to move then mpg goes up to +35mpg. on warm days even top down it moves quicker than 5 miles and seen +40 mpg. (UK) the range is based on the last 30km so can suddenly start to increase or stop dropping for a few miles depending on the mpg.

I found the tank to be linear after it starts to drop from full, but the range initially 410 would end up at 370. its not as good as my m240 the mpg it shows is fairly spot on but the zd technology is still 2009 or older.

Just for note my m240 was saying 194 range at 194 miles half tank, did 24 town miles in the last 2 days and the range is 131 that's 70 miles lost but thats the difference of 25 mpg town v 34 mpg country drives over what is left in the tank. As it stands 212 miles + 131 range makes 333 miles, I know week days I pump 36+ and I will be getting back to 370 from the tank and the range will go back up, (this is only a 52l tank v 55 or the zd)

So look at the mpg average, do reset and do run, you will see the current average mpg, as the car get warm it goes up.

I wouldn't worry about it. My z435 "lost" a lot of miles upon restart.

I think there's an algorithm that gets reset or re calibrated based on most recent driving.

Short trip brings the average MPG down.
Your range is calculated by average mpg x amount of gas in tank. The range is (GOM) Guess-O-Meter at the end of the day.

Some people should not own performance cars imo. At least without knowing how on earth cars work!

fuel economy will decrease in stop and go traffic, revving often, etc.

do you not know this?

I don't live or die by that readout. I have gone 15 miles when the display said 5 miles to empty.

Hey guys, I would like to ask you that my 2014 z4 20i rated around 21-22 mpg daily drive (not aggressive drive, comfort mode) it seems too much for me. Could be any problem with my car and what could cause it? Thanks

Mine has no idea what it's mileage to empty is. I can go many, many km with hardly a change...then all of a sudden it drops by 50 km. So it's an estimate, and not very good. Watch the actual fuel gauge.
