Hi Forum!

I have recently purchased a Z4 and I'm still working out how to use most of the iDrive functions. I found out the car has online services and a few other bits and bobs.

My other car is an E92 3 series and I'm fully versed in it's connectivity limitations but the Z4 seems a little different.
Due to the rarity of the Z4 compared to the 3 series there is far less information on forums regarding option codes. I have a couple of questions about options so I'll just list them and hope someone can clarify.

1. Given my list of options below would I be able to use the iPhone cradle to play music from my phone (media cradle?)? Or do I just have the basic version that only lets me charge the phone?

2. Should I be able to display album artwork for music files that I have imported onto my HDD? Does album artwork ever show on the E89 Nav?

you don't say what year your car is. Maybe newer model years have album art display, but my 2012 doesn't when my iPhone is the music source.

Mine is 2011 ... album art is always displayed (lightning cable or snap in). Why won't it display on yours, a newer model ?

2012 here. Never had luck with album art from phone via Bluetooth or from hard drive files. I'd love to get it working though.

Hard drive files don't show album art. But should show from iPhone connected by cable or snap in. Didn't try with bluetooth.

Given the option list should I be able to use the snap-in adapter for media playback?

It seems strange that the original owner spec'd everything but the USB function. I'm happy enough with using the HDD/AUX for playback but if I can get album artwork with the media cradle then I'd be buying one instantly!

In my 2013 335, the album art doesn't display over bluetooth but in 2014 loaners (with updated iDrive hardward and software) the album art displays.

Z4 has older iDrive hardware so I wouldn't expect to see album art via bluetooth
