Strange tinkling sound from left exhaust?

Anyone else got this on the 35i / is?

It happens on idle instantly after the flap in the RIGHT exhaust opens on a cold start. The left side suddenly makes a soft tinkling sound like something is in the muffler or there is some sort of vibration. It doesnt increase with revs etc - only noticeable at idle.

Could be a loose heat shield.

Good point. It seemed to go away once I went for a drive and the car was a bit warmed up. Strange. I will have a look underneath and tighten what I can see.

I have the same issue at cold start. My car is at the dealer currently , they are checking the cause.

Also they are replacing the muffler unit as the flap doesnt open / close as it should. I think this noise may be due the same muffler flap issue?

Thanks for the reply. Let me know what the cause is. I still havent had the time to get under the car yet.

Again once the car is warmed up it dissappears...

hmm i think i am having the same problem, but mainly on the left side and its when i rev up and let the rev come back down does it make a sort of rattling, and its for only a 1sec or so. i have had the car so far sitting for the winter, with some cold starts and allowing it to run, and a quick few laps around the block. the noise can still be heard after the car has warmed up, i sat there rev'd and listened a few times the higher revs i go the louder the noise is. any help would be nice, i will try and head to the dealership and see what they may say, just hope its covered under warranty!!!! <=(
