BSH OCC custom install
So I like to be different, well sometimes to a fault. Bought a used BSH OCC and stated looking at how everyone else did their installs and decided there had to be a better location:
On the passengers side there is an open area that is just asking to be used, but some new tubing would be required: Uninstall the engine cover. 4 screws No cowel cover in our way if you read the 3 series instructions... Find the hose running around the back: Use a screwdriver to hold off the clamp from the locking ring and pull out and off. Both sides the same clamp design Use a hairdryer to soften the plastic and remove both endcaps. We will reattach these and use for the hoses. These endcaps take a 3/4 inch hose, The OCC takes a 5/8 inch hose. So, time to go shopping... https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/ 135 degree 3/4 hose 5/8 to 3/4 reducer 1x 3/4 to 3/4 adapter (home depot) & 5/8 to 3/4 reduce 5/8 to 5/8 adapter (HD) 5/8 hose (HD) So the top 3 pieces get hooked together as in the picture. The extra adapter in the end is removed and the hose trimmed about an inch. The 5/8 to 3/4 reducer is hooked to the additional 5/8 inch hose. replace the 2 plastic end pieces back in the fittings to where they were originally: and Then the 135 degree bend hose attached to the exhaust side fitting, and the straight hose to the drivers side. Run these behind the shielding At this point, I constructed a "L" bracket and painted it to fit onto the existing screw on the firewall. I'll replace it in the future with something "nicer". Just make sure the OCC is slightly below the exhaust side mount so the oil will flow. Trim the hoses as required. As there is not a ton of pressure in the hoses - I left everything as-is without clamps. Reinstall the engine cover (was no need to trim) and you are done Hope this helps someone. Took me about 2 hrs once I had the hoses I needed |
