E89 Z4 - VTT Stg 2+ EK build

Been collecting parts in my garage for a few months now. Just waiting on my installer to get me on the schedule. Figure i would start a thread documenting the process (hopefully everything goes smoothly)
Here's an inventory of everything going in:

  • VTT Stg 2+ EK turbos (ceramic coated, fully optioned)
  • Motiv PI
  • Fuel-It Stage 2 LPFP
  • BMW 335is clutch
  • Mfactory SMFW
  • UUC short shift kit
  • NGK O2 sensors
  • NGK plugs
  • ECS twin cone intake
  • MHD (don't have a tuner selected yet)

Also happening at the same time:
  • Water pump
  • Thermostat

pic of the haul:

Why water pump and thermostat at such low mileage? Are you putting in higher capacity pump? I'm also updating clutch due to slippage

Cause everything is out anyway. might as well do it now.
Water pump and thermostat is cheap and no additional labor since the turbos will be out.

Side note: purchased the Motiv dual pump surge tank.
http://www.motivmotorsport.com/produ...e-tank-radium/

decided to overbuild the fuel system a bit to be on the safe side. This is the same setup that single turbo motiv Z4 is running.

Nope. Which is why I have the surge tank. It will be equivalent to the stage 3. Fuel it didn't make a stg 3 for the e89, so this was the next best thing

we scrapped the surge tank and did an inline pump to feed the PI. The rest of the lines are stock.

Here's the results. 606whp/575lbs

Congrats on the numbers. Now, do you realize you are triggering a Torque Limit Active ? I can only imagine what your post shifts will look like.

Absolutely. I can tell you now your shifts are taking a plunder, and the DME will pull load to drop your boost. Its very very very bad for the DCT. If not careful when shifting your tranny can perm slip causing the engine to over rev and boom. Same shit happened to Terry when his DCT slipped.

I am shocked how everyone on the BB site did not point that out to you.

TLM = Torque Limit Active is usually 4 but you have a 2048 spike. There is a lot of scaling in your map that the DCT does not like.

Whats going to happen when you shift the DME will reduce your load and timing and you will feel something aint right like how it use to shift.

Ah, I missed that, it doesn't apply to you then, thought you were DCT. Weird though, first I ever seen the TLA triggered on a 6MT.

Interesting...waiting to see how the VTT GC Turbos do before making the move on them

I did go to a 1/2 mile event today and got hit with a ton of shift bog... Maybe related. It was annoying as hell. It pulls like a frieght train till you shift then it falls on its face

If your map is not locked I could probably fix the shift bog but that's up to Jake if he want to work with me or not on it if he can't resolve it for you.
