Best radar detector?

What is recommended for radar detectors in a 2014 Z4? Easy to mount? Is the plug in a distracting cord?

I dont think you will find any specific information about a radar detector in a Z4. Same issues as any other coupe/convertable.

Did you have a specifc question?

I use the escort 9500ci. Nothing on the windshield at all and i dont have to put it away when i leave the top open.

I have always used Escort but also hear great things about the Valentine V1 due to its ability to show you the direction the cop is in.

Currently I am using the Escort Max. Its a single antenna detector with gps capabilities. Its nice because it remembers false alerts, warns you about redlight cameras, and has a gps speed readout. My one complaint is that its not duel antenna.

My last detector was an Escort Redline. This one still works and by far is my favorite. No fancy GPS features but it has duel antennas. Escort claims 12 miles of range (without obstacles) and I believe it. I have tracked cops from over 5 miles away in the densely populated bay area. This unit is still sold new.

The new Escort MAX 360 appears to be my two radar detectors combined. Duel Antenna and GPS capable. It also has the arrows pointing like the Valentine V1. If I end up buyin another detector this will be it.

I have the Escort Max 360. Hard wired so no wires dangling. Great detector.

Is it possible to get these radars retrofitted into the car so the components are not visible? I remember seeing a mod like this on the e92 forums where the V1 signals were visible on the rear mirror.

Sure. The mirror customization service can do it for any of the mirrors. Nothing unique for the Z4 here.

I would be worried however that in a convertible seeing info in the mirror could get difficult with the top down.

Good point. I haven't thought of that!
