I think your rear tires are too big, they may rub on you. I think they should be 265/30/19 max. Post in the TireRack forum someone I am sure will confirm my thoughts on this.

As for tire pressure there sre simple formulas based on weight of your car. I recommend you google "Tire Pressure" and you can read all about it.

Cheers,

I run 36 psi all around except on road trips where I increase the rear pressure to 40 psi to account for luggage in the boot.

Not true. I'm running 275/30/19 Conti DWS in the rear. No rubbing at all. There is somebody on the board that is running 285 w/o issues. As a matter of fact if you have 296 style wheels I would recommend 275/30 over 265 as it gives you a taller sidewall. You will loose some of the ultra low profile look, but it was worth it to me to give my 296 wheels a little extra cushion. Replacing bend wheels is expensive. I'm running standard air pressure 36 front 42 rear. I've been running with this setup for 6 months/2500 miles now. No problems at all. Much better than stock RFT.

You can check different tire sizes and their impact here http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp. Sidewall height on stock is 3.01 in (76.454 mm) vs 3.24 in (82.296 mm) on 275.

Thanks Marc, I stand to be corrected. My reply was based upon what I read in several posts in the TireRack forum. Goes to show one that not all is true

Thanks again for the heads up it will help those that are running the 296.

Cheers,

Rolf-Dieter

I just swapped out the stock RFTs for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires (F: 235/30/19; R: 275/30/19). My first impression was that not much had changed, but then it became apart to me that the ride was quieter, less jarring over uneven pavement, and just all around tighter.

I was worried about the rear tires not fitting and the MB dealer I brought my car to to get the tires mounted were also hesitant to mount them, but there doesn't seem to be any issues with this setup as other members have stated.
