How to remove plastic panel behind tail light ?

I am trying to get CTM out to get the hard top open. Currently it is in 'Roof Movement Impaired' mode. To get to the CTM, I need to remove plastic panel behind tail light. I watched several vids on YouTube showing that it can be removed by half opening the hard top. Since hard top wouldn't open, how do I remove the plastic part without breaking it ?

That's only possible with a vertically opened trunk lid.

But, that's not required:

The horizontal plastic cover on top of the CTM has to be removed.

I(!) bend the rear panel from your pic beginning of it's front end to the left, while trying to lift the horizontal cover beginning with it's back side up This cover has a deeper frame on the back and needs to be pulled forward and to the left at a 45° angle.

Yes, sounds weird, but it works.
