Exclamation 2012 e89 35is chip tune help & recommendation

Hi, all

this is very very first time to do on my car except caliper paint
warranty just expired so I want to start with simple thing now

Chiptuning is the simplest one I think please give me advise

1) what do you recommend for beginner?(mine is 335HP now I want to reach 400HP)

2) how much it is?

3) does the chip tune require some hardware upgrade?

4) any special tool needed? ( I have jack & stands + basic tool 243pcs set)

5) how long will it take time for beginner? ( I will do my year-end vacation)

Thank you guys

Check out E90post, N54 engine section. You'll find all the help you'll need over there.

Keys items. JB4, Cobb, MHD are all for tuning. To reach the goal you want, 400hp, you'll also need some other mods such as FMIC (front mount intercooler), chargepipe, downpipes, panel air filter, and some decent gas.

With all the above you'll be considered full bolt on, or FBO.

Once you're at that level, and still need more power you can give custom tuners like Wedge, or PTF a call…

GL!

Get a cobb access port. With a Stage 1 remap (takes no more than an hour) you will get quite close to 400. You will need a FMIC and downpipes for higher stages that should take you over 400

If you are still looking for a tune and didn't buy Cobb yet, there is a better option for our cars right now which is MHD, it is way cheaper and works with android devices. You don't have to spend $900 for Cobb. MHD will cost around $100 if you have an android device. If you don't that will cost $150 with cheapest android tablet from Amazon.com
MHD offers bunch of maps and options right now. And they improve the app every single month. Cobb already left the platform and no updates anymore.
You cannot find enough information about MHD here. Search it on e90 forums and you will definitly go with that. Or you can PM me any of your question and I can answer. I have used JB4, Cobb and MHD so have idea how they all work.
If you still wanna go with Cobb, people are selling their Cobb in e90 forums because they all switched to MHD

This guys sell the cables but they all tested and all work! Yeah little more expensive than the one in ebay but, you won't try 3-4 cables to find the right one

Bimmer software . com / cables

What are the differences between this cable and the one bimmer software sells for $40? They all tested but double price ?

They are suppose to do the same thing, what matters is reliability. Cant really compare unless you have the full specs from the other one you posted. Could be the additional adapter that's included for the older BMW that only support OBD instead of OBDII.

I bought this cable: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o01_s01

and this OTG: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o01_s00

and they both work perfectly. I haven't had one issue.
