Wheels without TPMS owners- question

On my 335, I didn't have TPMS on my aftermarket wheels. It only first gave me a TPMS error message the first time I started it up. It then disappeared to the background of the on board computer messages. Is this the same on our Z4s? Trying to figure this out so I don't have to mount new tires to aftermarket wheels then have to remove them to put TPMS back in.

Why don't you just put the TPMS in your new wheels? They're nice to have.

TPMS alert will haunt you on the Z4 endlessly. Spend $200-250 for a set of valve/ sensors that are compatible with your car build date, pre or post Sept2010 when the design changed. Or spend about the same on Macht Schnell box to bypass tpms alerts. JB4 can turn off alerts from steering wheel.
Good luck.

What are you talking about? Are you constantly losing air pressure in your tires?
I have never, with 3 BMW's, been endlessly haunted. But I've appreciated being told that my pressure was low on occasion.

I think he means it will haunt if he doesn't install tpms, then he will get alerts about no sensors. But I could be wrong.

No worries. I installed the JB4 and that's a selectable option on there so I'll be fine. That's an extra $100 I dont have to spend now.

Correct.

OP- Happy the JB4 option solved your issue. My tpms conversations with BMS helped to add that option to JB4.

Awesome. Yeah I was actually thinking about that before I bought the JB4 G5 the other day... like "how come they can control everything else on the car but not the TPMS which so many tuned N54s have aftermarket wheels?"

Then after I got the JB4 and was going through the full list of settings, I saw it and was like JACKPOT!

FYI on my Z4, using the JB4's TPMS function actually drove me insane it literally notified me every 30 to 60 seconds of a TPMS malfunction. Just like my 335, when I left it normal without the JB4, it notified me once and just left a light on the dash. That's it. So the ruling on this, change out the wheels with or without TPMS. There isn't much added benefit if you're running non-run flat tires except for the brief window of time that you'll be notified about a deflating ire and not having a dashboard light up.
