News from my Big Brakes Kit: F I N A L I Z E D

I really like the brakes and I am happy to have chosen the color of my interior (PureWhite).
I hope you guys also like the brakes?

Unfortunately my beautiful BMW Performance 269 wheels do not fit with the brakes anymore, so I had to install my BMW M3 CSL winter wheels as interim solution in the high season of the summer...

If anybody is interested to buy my OEM BMW Performance wheels, just PM me.

Next update: new wheels...

Brakes look really good? Take it these are the steel ones as the Carbon would be $$$$? Also might need to upgrade those rear rotors they look small in comparison.

Thank you very much Gentlemen.

VailM3: Yes these are the steel ones as the carbon-ceramic version is over engineered for the Z4.
I am still working on a solution for the rear brakes as the rear brakes from the M5 do not fit in any 19" wheels. I hope to find a solution soon...
It is really difficult to find e-parking-caliper big-brakes. Perhaps Audi is the best way to look for a solution?! -> we will see... This project has time, because I will install perforated rotors at the rear axis the coming weeks and I will paint the calipers also in PureWhite. This will already upgrade and align the design from front and rear axis.

What you guys think of my new wheels choice?

Original BMW M4 M437 wheels

I really like them - especially the open design in combination with the big brakes.
But I also already miss my BMW Performance wheels. Winter wheels @ >250 km/h on the German Autobahn at 36°C really sucks...

Nuebbes!

How about a little "Throw back Thursday" and post some clean pics of your M side markers. We all know you've been too busy to remake them but some new photos couldn't hurt!

M4 wheels look good on Z4.

On a blue 35i

As to E-brake there is one from the UK. You might need to do a bit of investigating

+1, more details!

And are those stock Z4 35is rear calipers but just with cross-drilled rotors? They look surprisingly good in regards to size, even in comparison to the massive M5 calipers up front.

Can you upload some pics of the custom bracket? I found some images of custom brackets on f10post. Is your version similar? I think this guy was willing to sell bracket as well.

Very interesting read, jts. Didn't know the guys over at F10 are trying to retrofit better brakes like us too. As amazing as the M5 BBK is though, it may be cost prohibitive. Cheapest I can find new M5 calipers for the front are $650/side = $1300 + shipping. Looks like that guy is selling his bracket for $700 shipped to the US from Russia. That's $2,000 already. Rotors are $380/side = $760. Add in brake pads, lines and heat shield and you're at the $3,000 mark. At the point, you might as well get the real Brembos that were actually designed for our the E89. Probably won't mess with the balance or need coding (that doesn't exist) either. It would be a something to actually consider if the brackets can be had for cheaper.

But man, oh man... do they look amazing

Besides the look, and the performance I do like the fact it retains the e-brake. I have some time till pull the trigger on brakes. I think the Brembos are almost $4000 just for the front.

Again, the F10 rear breaks are just fitting with 20" wheels or with 19" M5 wheels.
I found a solution for a 370 mm rear brake upgrade with OEM BMW parts, but this is really not necessary. This would be just for show&shine w/o any benefits on normal (German) streets.
I made several tests on our German Autobahn with the F10 front and OEM rear size setup and this is working very good -> also at speeds >270 km/h.
If anybody is interested in a 375mm or a 396 mm solution for the front, pls. contact me. My adapter brackets are cheaper than 700 $.

These are M6 replica wheels.
The rear brakes solution is really looking great but they would be not possible to make street legal for Germany. Real pity.

Also M6 replicas. But they also look really great on the Z4.

This is my new setup for the summer:

I actually installed 5 mm spacers at the rear, which is not enough. A friend of mine has the same setup with 10 mm spacers, which is a bit too much in my opinion. I have found a supplier for 8 mm spacers - I will try this next.

In addition, the rear bumper add ons are finished.
