sorry for the spelling, i bought a wind deflector and seen that you can also buy a perpect wind deflector and the advert says that it is easy to install, unlike the one i bought from BMW. Any one know more about this deflector ?

wind deflector

I have the plexiglass wind deflector from roadster solutions and it was a piece of cake to install, less than 10 minutes, easily removable and solidly in place. It makes a difference but depends on speed obviously, hope that helps you make a decision.

I've been thinking about one of these but $250 sounds a bit excessive for a piece of clear plastic.

Am I right in assuming it is more effective at high speed?

I don't need it low speed but could use some help with buffeting at highway speeds (> 75 mph/120 kph)

Check out the top gear episode where they tested wigs (hair pieces) in convertibles... Funny and informative.

The final run they used a Merc (I think) that had a deflector and it made a huge difference - I dont think the wig actually came off...

It makes a huge difference if you have long hair. It also cuts a lot of draft on cool days. I never run without a wind deflector on the highway with the top down. (the GF has long hair and I don't like the draft) The plastic ones look great but I have the OEM one and I'll stay with it.

I had the one you are looking at on my 2004 Z4 and it worked very well. You will have to clean it with a product like Mcguire's plastic cleaner & polish occasionally. If the pieces rattle inside the roll bars just push a couple of tooth picks aroung the inserts, and break off the excess, and they will stop vibrating. I had to do that to mine.

What I like to know is ...

How much of a difference does it make when comparing it with the one BMW provides?

Anyone knows?

Is this statement as published by the manufacturer / vendor true? What say you ???

Quote ...

It reduces those chilling drafts, quiets your cockpit significantly, and yet doesn't affect the view through the rear view mirror as the mesh design does. The center section is removable as well as the roll hoop inserts when you want to feel the wind on the back of your neck.

..... End Quote

Come on back give us your opinion if you have one .....

From what I have seen here, the BMW version provides coverage for both the center and two hoops, however with mesh material.

The roadster solutions offers just the center coverage with a solid piece.

The link that KrisNL (justroadster) provided is a one-piece deflector that covers across the rear section, including the two hoops and the center in solid plastic.

I am also wondering how all three solutions work in comparison, especially on the way they are mounted.

The BMW one seems to have the most solid mount of the three, where the roadstersolutions is the stick-on type and the justroadster appears to be mounted with straps or some sort of plastic mount.

Oh, well. Maybe the Mercedes Aircap-like device would be another solution
.

Now why does BMW not add this option ::

Perhaps I'll remove mine and stick it in the trunk, perhaps my dog would love me to do it I will try it out besides when our top is down there should be nothing in the back and the windows should be down all the way

Great video clip, thanks for sharing.

Anyone from BMW reading this? well get with it add this option. Get with it

Never mind I traded up to an M3
