DCT Shifts only in gear 1,3,5,7
Getting a bit concerned, have low tire light in rear and DCT freaks out.
Driving home car felt like it stalled while shifting. Transmission warning light comes on in Yellow. i notice the car is only shifting from 1,3,5,7 and it does this at any speed. it will go into 7th while going 35 mph for example. Sometimes won't go out of 1st. This is the second time this happened but the last time cleared up on it's own. Believe it or not, they call this "limp home mode". Not kidding!! manual page 147. Gotta tell ya, with the awful RFT ride, 296 nervousness and the DCT, having second thoughts about this car. |

Update, as confusingly expected, tried the car out this morning and it's fine.
No warnings, no weird shifting, no fixes. Obviously going to dealer on Monday but frustrating. |

Going into Limp Mode sucks and can be dangerous to drive too as the shifts are anything but normal. Hopefully the dealer can reset the computer and all will be fine.
Fortunatly for me, I do not have the 296 wheels and I am seriously thinking about going to non-RFT's as I truly enjoy my Z4 and want to make it as enjoyable as possible. I hope you are up and running without the fear of Limp Mode on Monday. Good Luck! |

Blu,
Sorry to hear about your troubles - please keep us posted. The good news is, you probably have the new and improved 296s with your '11 model. Now, just through some Michelin Pilot Super Sports on it after the DCT is actually fixed and you will be very very happy. |

Appreciate the concerns.
Unfortunately I have only one of the new 296's. That was one of my pictures HerrK was kind enough to forward. I'm pretty sure i'm in for a new wheel. I am really ready to go to the Supersports. Do you have them? i understand i really can't put them only on the back even though the the fronts are not worn down. |

our e89 now has 28k miles. I replaced the RFTs at 8k and have never looked back. the first non RFT set were Continental DW - a great tire and massive improvement from the RFTs. I just went to the Michelin PSS about 2k miles ago and this is by far, the BEST tire made for sports cars - buy it. plus, they now have a 25k+ mile tread life with this latest technology tire
