They had two in the showroom when I got mine, a white and a black one. When you can compare the white next to the black, the white looks alot bigger.
Some people thought they were two different models because the white one had the top up!

I can't say I'm surprised with blue, black, and white coming out on top in this survey.

I am surprised, however, where Mojave is coming in on this list. As I was looking for a lease deal on a 2009, I had to choose something from a dealer's lot and that's how I ended-up with blue. If I had ordered a new car to my specifications I would have order Mojave without hesitation.

I wonder if anyone who considered Mojave and then opted out could comment why. I'd also like to hear from someone driving a Mojave Z4 about how the color looks under driving conditions (i.e., out of the showroom) and if they have any regrets for choosing this color.

I haven't seen the BMW Mojave in metal on a Z4 but have seen similar colors out there and my concerns is that it would look a little outdated in a couple of years.

Darker colors definitely pop on the Z4 and I voted for DSB in this pole, but I wouldn't mind seeing some other darker colors that have same rich appeal but BMW is rather limited in it's offerings. Either one of these two colors have as much appeal for me as the DSB. Don't remember who did these photoshop pics, but thanks.

I wouldn't mind if they had a few more interior color choices as well. The pic below is from an X6, but IMO this color or something slightly darker would go well in the Z4.

Very pretty - I like both of those shades and would choose either. I think I like the darker one a bit better.

I get the same response from friends and family members that the white does look bigger and even thought it was a different model, when compared to black or the blue.

White rocks~!

I think the reason Mojave (or Havana as it's called in England) is low on the list is because it limits you to one interior. It forces you into having the Ivory white interior which, in turn, means having the stripy wood-effect dash. I chose the Ivory interior (on a Jet Black car) but most people who've seen it think I was crazy. As it is, I have banned anyone wearing new Denim and I've developed OCD about hand-washing and dry-cleaning.

I liked Mojave in some pictures and was indifferent to it in others. Without any opportunity to see it in the flesh, I could never be sure how it looked. The swatch in the brochure made it look quite dark which, for me, would be a good thing but I'd seen photos and clips from auto shows that made it look only a few shades darker than Orion Silver.

Upkeep issues aside, I'm happy with the Ivory leather/alcantara but don't like the fake wood. It cannot be long before companies start making replacement dashboards for the e89 in carbon fibre etc. As soon as I can change it to something like the Piano Black available for the 3 series, I plan to.

teagueamx, that burgundy (the first one) is hot!! i would've gotten something like that, because it looks black at night and metallic during the day.

You makes some good points and I agree that requiring Ivory White w/ Mojave/Ivory White may inhibit some people from making that selection, but I also think that just as so many have selected the DSB/Ivory White combination, I think if more had liked Mojave it would have been popular on it's own merits. I think DSB/Ivory White is a beautiful combo as many people here have it and the car demonstrates a lot of class. But Ivory White is not for me. I'd prefer a darker color but the beige is not much different than Ivory White. Black always looks good. Red is fantastic too, but sometimes I think it might be a bit much for me in the morning.

Bmw uses real wood and I think the antracite "stripey wood" looks great. I like it much better than most of the woods that Bmw has used in the past.

You're right, it is real wood and I think all the trim/wood choices are nice, although I would like to see a tight weave cf choice in addition to the others.

Sorry, my mistake. But that just makes it so much worse that I look at it every day and it has convinced me that it's fake. Don't get me wrong, nearly every manufacturer we see in the UK can be accused of the same. IMHO Aston Martin are the only ones who do wood right, the rest look like screen printed plastic

My dealer tells me you can special order aluminium trim with the white nappa leather package. He has done a special trim swap on another vehicle like this. I personally dont like the dark trim the pure design white package comes with.

The SELLNER GROUP employs more than 1,450 people at 9 different locations, and achieves sales worth € 215 million. Our customers include companies such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Audi, plus famous tier-1 names.

Quote from Sellner-Behr president Norb Dieterle:

"The process of making a piece of trim takes up to three weeks, Dieterle said. Nearly paper-thin sheets of walnut burl, bird's-eye maple and other woods make up a "sandwich" that is forged into a more solid material with heat and pressure. Aluminum backing is added to ensure strength.
Wood fibers that stick up must be sanded, or they "look like a giant pimple on the car," Dieterle said.
The raw trim enters a pressurized finishing room that keeps the dust out. At least four coats of polyester finish are added, and curing ovens evaporate excess material.
Each piece requires an average of 80 steps from start to finish, Dieterle said."

I seriously considered Mohave and wanted the Ivory interior anyways.
The only car I could see it on was a 3 series and it just doesn't suit the 3.

Some Z4 pics I've seen of Mohave do look nice but overall I'd pick DSB or Sapphire Black over it.

Here's some pics from a guy who lives in Hawaii that posts on M6BOARD.COM.

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e63...vidual-m6.html

His dream was to have a M6 Individual made to his specifications and one part of that was supplying unique wood specimens found in Hawaii that BMW used in his car. The last photo is of some other parts BMW made using the guys own wood, which is the same used on his dash, doors, etc.

The post on the site is quite fascinating as he has some 'tube videos of his European Delivery at BMWs Welt, Germany, taking delivery of the car , driving it around, etc., which may be of interest to some people.

A few years back a had a blue Audi with a gray leather interior. That was a very nice combination and I think it would suit the DSB Z4.
