Across the board, white is the most popular car color.

I almost got the white like i said...but felt the car would require a large set of bull-horns mounted to the front and also require me to gain 80lbs, dress in a white suit and buy a pair of white boots and cowboy hat...not down with the Boss Hog look

Depends on whether you are using additive or reflective color theory

Answer 1 [Reflective]
A. Black is the absence of color (and is therefore not a color)

Explanation: When there is no light, everything is black. Test this out by going into a photographic dark room. There are no photons of light. In other words, there are no photons of colors.

B. White is the blending of all colors and is a color.

Explanation: Light appears colorless or white. Sunlight is white light that is composed of all the colors of the spectrum. A rainbow is proof. You can't see the colors of sunlight except when atmospheric conditions bend the light rays and create a rainbow. You can also use a prism to demonstrate this.

Fact: The sum of all the colors of light add up to white.

--OR------------
Answer 2 [Additive]

Black is a color, combine all three primary colors (red yellow and blue) using a liquid paint or you even food coloring. You won't get a jet black, but the point will be clear. The history of black pigments includes charcoal, iron metals, and other chemicals as the source of black paints.

The grey area:
Technically, pure white is the absence of color. In other words, you can't mix colors to create white. Therefore, white is the absence of color in the strictest sense of the definition.

I guess it's a matter of perspective, like the poor snail who was run over by a turtle, as he was waking up in the Emergency Room the doctor asked him what happened, to which he replied " I have no idea, it all happened sooo fast"

So. If you add no colors to the paint, it's white. It reflects all colors so that you see white.

If you add all colors to the pigment, it becomes black. Black reflects no colors, and you see black.

Simple!

Well one thing is very clear, comparing the popularity here of DSB with its prevalence in the marketing material and the higher proportion of demo cars in this colour, I think BMW got its launch marketing right!

Just trying to keep things lively and fun, color is such a personal preference it's kinda hard to argue any color above any other color, if you think your color is the best, then it is...

I personally feel there is no bad Z4 color...

Not only all that above, but .... Since white is the ABSENCE of color it is the MOST REFLECTIVE hence it, and aeverytinhg around it will remain COOLER when in the sun and that is the reason there are so many WHITE cars in Florida !!!

I felt that Black (both types) made the car look smaller and masked the beautiful lines of the car. Not to mention the extra care that goes into keeping it looking pristine here in Western PA.

Deep Sea Blue just exuded fun and looks fantastic. Almost all colors look better in person except for Orion Silver and Mojave...just my opinion in a discussion forum. I'm sure their are plenty of people who think DSB s too feminine....they can eat my dust

Blue isn't a girl's color, PINK is a girl's color.

When it first came out, I brought a couple of friends to check out the blue that most dealerships had, and they thought it looked like a "bat mobile" from the front as they referenced it when I was making a decision on color. They said the blue looked really good in the pictures online, but looked a lot darker in person. By the time I got the white and they saw it in person, they said it looked entirely different and that the color "pops" from their description especially with a red interior.

I think the blue color is voted mostly because of bmw company advertisements and most of people here are web surfers and they see beautiful pictures of blue z4 then they love it. But I've seen the blue car in person and I think it's not that much wonderful as in those pictures so I prefer White (despite me, my fiance loves mohave!!!) anyway these are my reasons to vote for the White:

1. It's more visible in nights and days so its less dangerous of not being seen by other drivers. So it's a kind of passive safety option (Beside, honestly the point of having this car is to be more visible.)
2. Less dusty.(compare to dark colors)
3. Scratches are less visible on this color.
4. I feel a non metallic paint is less damageable and lasts longer over your car. (If I'm wrong please correct me)
5. Z4 has got a history behind it and a non metallic color can give a classic sense.
6. You pay less money over a non metallic color.
