Centre console Alu Carbon trim - will fit to MY2009?
Houston, got a problem!
Just been thinking like upgrading interior trim (whole, ie. dashboard, door trims, centre console) of my Z4 (MY2009) from "brused Aluminium" to "Aluminium Carbon". Found all pieces ident at realOEM.com (thru VIN) and enquiried our local bmw dealer. Speaking of dash and doors, there is no problem, but for the centre console (see items 3+5 below) they keep me informed it would fit to MY2010 onwards (but not to my MY2009). Anyone aware of any reason why it should not fit ? |

Hi OP, on my MY 2012 the item 5 (cover) doesn't exist. There is a rubber lined open storage area in that space in front of the gear lever.
There is probably a separate part for that area that you need to purchase as well depending on whether or not the new center trim has a covered or uncovered storage space. |

The cover (5) is part of the smokers pack, at least here in the UK. If you don't spec this you don't get the lighter/power socket and cover, you just get an open tray. Not that this helps with the OPs issue of it not fitting a 2009. I've no idea why this may be, perhaps they tweaked that area in some small way..

I would be very careful with this update. These parts from BMW sometimes does not fit 100%. The dealer scratched my console and had to change it. It took them 3 separate parts to find one that fits good.
