as the E-brake tries to engage you will hear a pop and it disengages immediately, maybe to prevent damage. So no. it won't work while moving.

I am afreaid i didnt understand your comment. To the OP though, our tiny itty bitty ebrake does nto work like the manual ebrake on a regualr car. On a manual car the more you pull th emore tension you add to the brakes all the way up to locking up the brakes. Our ebrake when at speed gradually engage to stop the car in a controlled fashion. this gradual application seems to happen fairly fast but does not require the driver to have brute force to stop the car like the manual lever did. Someone can correct me if i am, wrong but I think the ebrake will not disengage until the car comes to a complete stop AND the brake is applied by the driver. Of course you have to push down on the ebrake lever too. So if you are planning on driftign or soemthing like that there are a lot of ,odifications you have to do. (i.e. get rid of the electric ebrake)

I've done it at like 15-20 mph, just to try it out. All four brakes pull the vehicle down. ABS kicks in to minimize lockup. It's basically a hard panic pedal stop. You have to hold it up to keep it engaged.

emergency release:
No parking brake emergency release function is provided for the customer. The parking brake can be released using the BMW diagnosis system or the EMF actuators are removed and the spindle is turned back manually.
So...do not pull the ebrake and continue to pull it until the car stops or your brakes will remain locked on and require the above options for release. If you release the ebrake actuator while slowing down your brakes will release. The pulled actuator while the car is in motion effects the DSC to apply all 4 brakes in essentially a panic stop.
