Here we go again, 296 cracked

What can I say, the same story like everyone else with a cracked 296 rim.
When I saw the tire warning light this morning, it was clear for me.

Today I will visit the dealer, I'm curious how BMW Netherlands handles these wheel issues. (30i,2009,~55000km)

I just had a call of my BMW dealer, the warranty request has been reject.

The most interesting part is BMW Netherlands is not aware about the new revised 296 wheel.

May i suggest, if you haven't already, call and make a case with BMW Netherlands corporate office over the phone. That way BMW has a record of your issue. Then readdress with the dealership. It may not help but i did this in the US and they covered my wheel and tire. I had only been driving my car for 8 days but it had 11,000 miles on it.

I referred to all the websites that have this problem.
Also, not a bad idea to walk into the dealership with snapshots of the problems from this site. You never know if it might help.

Yes I did, also my dealer advised to contact BMW directly with my findings. This is what I did, first by phone to get an email address of the service department. So I have sent them a mail with my 296 story and pictures of the 2 rim revisions. To make a long story short, I have requested BMW to make a statement about the rim revision. If they refuse or get around it to answer my question, a lawyer will take over the case.

In the Netherlands I estimate 600 E89’s are registered. Let's assume 20% has 296 rim and only 5% gets crack because of the very good road quality in the Netherlands, only 6 cars got an 296 issue in the last 2-3 years. I can imagine that BMW did not get triggered with these low numbers of issues. So, I just wait. I hope I can expect some leniency.

What I did is, damaged my 2 rear 296 wheels on my own had my insurance cover it and got two new rear wheels that haven't cracked since. If your insurance covers it then go for it.

I got car back today. One new 296 wheel and 2 new tires Goodyear EAGLE F1 RFT. So I have a mix of Bridgestone Potenza (front) and Goodyear EAGLE F1 on my car. I assume this is no issue.

About the 296, I have also 2 different version of the 296 on the rear. Even BMW can't deny now the existence of the revised wheel...and 526 euro out of my pocket.

I got a letter from BMW Netherlands today. They are not aware of the new revision and if there is a change, the old version is always quite as good as revision updates.

Yeah, sure. Is there also in automotive land the saying:

Sorry to hear they denied it.
BUT, since i answered your post, I just had loss of tire pressure.
Guess what, i have another cracked rear 296.
My dealer replaced it without question and even put the old tire back on.
It is the new thicker model.
This is in Los Angeles so mabe BMW America is different.
