Rear Tires - Uneven wear
I just replaced my tires today and was surprised to see the amount of un-even wear on the rear tires. Both rears had drastic wear on about 1" of inside edge tread. The centers and outer edges were pretty flat and evenly worn. On the right rear the inside 1" of tread was worn down to the cords in the tire, the left rear was not so bad but still pronounced.
Is there some adjustment on the rear suspension that could be altered to flatten out the tire on the road and make it so that less of the inside edge only contacts the road? Could it be the tire inflation pressure I was running on? I kept things stock with 42psi in the rear and 36psi in the front while running on Pirelli P-Zero RFTs. The front tires were worn nice and evenly, no issues there. Thanks. |

or just have your rear camber adjusted to the minimum...

1) lowest negative chamber say 1% max and of course alignment is key. I like to add what I was told by a well experienced US Tire Shop Manager .... He recommended that if you drive a lot with the top down, increase the rear tire pressure by 4 psi. In his own words he said "I've seen this a lot with cars like this roof in the trunk some luggage and that negative chamber will give you this kind of inside premature tire wear, add 10% more air to your rear wheels if you drive a lot with the top down" In 2011 my then former Z4 35i rear tires also showed extreme inside wear after some 13,303 KM road trip.

Coming from a WRX where negative camber was hard to come by without going aftermarket, I am finding it a bit funny that folks are REDUCING negative camber in their cars.
Just drive harder and you will get even wear |
