alloy wheel repairs

Hi all,

has anyone had any experience with these companies that do alloy wheel repairs? I've scapped my 19's as i was reversing so i want to get them fixed. Before and after pics looks great on some of the sites of companies who do this but just wanted some feedback on the results from others and whether they do get it back to looking brand new.

Anyone in sydney reading this if you can point me to someone who you've used before would be great as there seems to be a few companies out there who do this sort of work.

thanks.

I have had wheels fixed. If the company is good at what they do you will not be able to tell it from new. Ask around and see if you can see some of their work first hand. Assuming they are local to you. Curb rash on a painted wheel is a no brainer repair. Way cheaper than replacing.

Not in Sydney, but for those of us in Melbourne: Advanced Alloy Wheel Repair in Moorabbin, are good for 2-pak painting (I've used them twice to change wheel colours) but they cannot re-machine a front face that has curvature. Hence, their repairs are limited to the flange and only those wheels where the damaged part of the face is perpendicular to the wheel axis.

I'd be interested if anyone has experience with a good repairer - I have to get a Mazda wheel (or two) repaired before I sell it)

BTW - I sprung for the wheel and tyre insurance today on the Z4, the 19" rims and 30 profile tyres are a big risk for pothole damage IMO... not to mention the chance of scraping them on a curb...
I shouldn't think about it...

Yeah that's a good idea, must make a call to my insurance company. You can get wheel insurance in australia. They often ask me if i want hire car and windscreen protection but they never asked me if i wanted alloy wheel cover where the first claim is free.

I just went for the BMW one - it is Allianz insurance - as most of them are here...
