So I am buying a Z4 for sure but I don't know what to buy. The 28i or the 30i or the 35i. Also what kind of mods can I do to the Z4?

First car ever? Parents paying?

Max it out with 35i/35is, full bolt on mods, turbo swap, custom cobb tune, HRE wheels, coilover suspension, E90 m performance brakes for the front

I'm actually 26. Buying my first car and quite excited. I'm looking for street performance and aesthetic mods primarily as I won't be tracking the car. Appreciate all the input and advice is appreciated. I know this topic has been beat to death but just looking for fresh perspective. Thank you

Thanks man! What car would you choose though? The 28i, 30i or the 35i?

When he said "turbo swap" he means sDrive35i/is, If you wanna mod your car sDrive35i is the only option comes with n54 engine, which has twin turbos with +300hp and you will be able install a chip which will 80-90hp, 60whp.. So go with 35i or 35is. Turbo charged cars are ready to built, but I don't thing there are enough mods for other models.

Yes, you're correct that's what I meant.

I am biased though, since I'm in the more power = better camp

OP, my (retired) Z4 was a DCT 35i with cobb stage 1, dunlop zii tires to put that power down, and some minor adjustments to the alignment. lots of fun and I would highly recommend as a street car. I didn't take my own advice on mods since I was just scratching the convertible itch while waiting for the F80 M3 to come out

My vote says 30i. Great mileage, great engine, already depreciated so good prices can be found, and you can still make all the aesthetic mods without worrying too much about HPFP issues.

Also, no disrespect to the 28i owners, because the 4 cylinder is more than capable in this car, I just don't think it sounds as nice. You won't get the aural satisfaction you would from the 30i or 35i.

Garage List
Hi,

I'm not sure about the situation in the states, but in Germany 30i was only available for a short time period from 5/2009 till 9/2011. So it might be difficult to find exactly 30i with options you prefer and milage range.

+100000.

Go with 35i/is. Then invest into a used Cobb AP3, front mount intercoolerjust to start off. They're relatively cheap. Once you get bitten by the mod bug there is no end…

welcome to the club

If you get the 30i, you can mod it out with the stubby antenna !

Be careful with engine mods that may impact your Texas annual inspection/emissions test. Not good if you cannot attain an inspection sticker.

It is simple...if you want a manual get a 35i if you want a double clutch get a 35iS. After that get a cobb access port to stage 1, golf-t mod and stubby antenna. once you have done all 3 of those you are pretty good to go. To be honest much more than that, though great really isn't needed.

I would go of 35iis with the double clutch.

So I've done some more research and it looks like I am going to stick with the 2011 sdrive35i! I wanted to know what kind of packages come with the car. Also I want aesthetic mods instead of performance. If you guys have any info on that please let me know! Thanks for all the input!

M-sport pack with 326 wheels is a must. Stubby antenna and golf-t mod. All three are must haves/do's.

I'm putting in a vote for the 325 18" wheels (Agreed though, 326 look nice) since I like the tire choices/cost and ride of the 18s

I have the Cobb AP from my old N54 for sale OP. I'd let it go for cheap to a fellow E89post member
