I like the exterior. Im really worried about the interior. Seems like they are aiming to kill the CLK and SLK with one car.

Hmmm - the roll-over hoops seem a touch on the slim side. I like the chunky ones the current Z4 has.

I bet that is not a finished prototype...the roll-over hoops will be much thicker once they are production ready (to meet safety requirements)

I am really anticipating for the new Z... the e85 is already a gorgeous looking car, if e89 turns out better then it will be my next car

all i am hoping for is this,

1. kidneys are not as big as new 7 series
2. taillights are not as ugly as the new 3 series sedan and 7 series.
3. interior isn't as crappy as the slk or clk, or any other low quality crap.
4. Has a nice looking exterior !!

+1 on the taillights and hopefully it'll have LEDs.

Is it just me, or does this car have actual rear windows now? Looks like there are rear windows, and they have the familiar Hoffmeister kink, which means there will definitely be a retractable hard top. Interesting...

My E92 will be 2 years old in December this year, and if the E89 is launched at the start of 2009, it **will** be my next car as soon as I can get one ordered.

Does anyone have a prediction as to when we'll see it without any camouflage? Has it not been said that BMW are filming the publicity materials??

It's coming to dealers in may 2009, official premiere should be Geneva 2009 in March.
But first teaser pictures could hit somewhat in november/december 2008, some sources are saying (even if I personally doubt this - just makes no sense to present a summer-car at the beginning of winter...)

I know it is disguised but rear quarters look similar to boxster; roll over hoops too.

Good post

A whole fleet of them... and perfect weather for dropping the top.

That page actually says: "We’re gettin close people, we are less than 3 months away from the official launch of the 2009 BMW Z4" ... could that really mean a November 2008 launch..??

The official marketing materials and the launch will take place sometimes in November, but we don't know exactly when they will be available at the dealers.
