Wheel bolts versus wheel studs?

I'm curious. How many active Z4 enthusiasts on the forum have switched from the factory wheel bolts to wheel studs with lug nuts? And why?

I have finally decided to make the switch to lug nuts (Mishimoto aluminum locking lug nuts) and will be installing the studs and nuts soon.

I'm not a track guy so the titanium studs are probably overkill for me, so I went with H&R studs.

Just me... The only reason for studs, is ease of changing a tire. Wheels are heavy to hold up with on hand, while trying to get the bolt started. Solution is to use a wheel hangar. This is what I got.

I switched to studs on my M4 purely because I change from daily-driver wheels/tires to track day wheels/tires on a semi-regular basis and that included having spacers on the daily wheels but not the track day which would have also involved swapping lug bolts. Unless you're doing that swap fairly often just stick with lug bolts. If you're at a halfway point in how often your wheels come off maybe buy a wheel hanger tool like THIS to make it easier to reinstall the wheels. (There are likely far cheaper options than the one I linked; it was simply the first I found)

Yep, I bought a wheel hanger pin shortly after buying my Z, from ECS Tuning I believe. I have the OEM wheels with almost new tires and my current setup but my wheel bolts are not the best so… Time to move to studs.

Did anyone have clicking noises (whilst driving) from the OE bolts that disappeared with studs, or that appeared with the studs? Thanks.

I like the look of the factory wheel bolts, so I just use a wheel hanger to ease installation.

I use studs. Easier to take the wheels on and off and way easier working with spacers. I hate wheel bolts

I have 6 cars with wheel bolts, so I guess I'm used to it.
