Today has been cold, wet and windy, so I've spent some time processing some aurora shots ready for a slideshow I'm due to give to a local group shortly.
I thought you might like to see this one as I quite like it. It was taken last September and is a little unusual as it was taken quite early in the evening, when there was still some daylight. More usually the aurora keeps rather more unsociable hours and tends to appear around late evening / midnight / early hours. This was shot about a mile from home, looking due north across The Moray Firth towards Wick and John O'Groats. Twilight Aurora_3995_2 by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr

Awesome shot, Alan. I'd print that as large as it would go and hang it where a lot of people would see it.
Great eagle shot, Ed. Looks like he's trying to show you some hot watches. "Psst, hey buddy, check these out."

It was 30mph sustained wind out at the coast today. Saw this guy for just a brief second.

Here's my friend, Ken Parker, being honored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. He's holding "The Tree", his latest archtop guitar, built for the Museum's Musical Instrument collection.
Ken was honored as a top luthier of the 21st century. His innovative archtops stood the staid world of archtop guitars on its ear. The Tree is made of mahogany from a tree felled 55 years ago and reputed to have the most beautiful mahogany ever harvested. Beautiful wetland Ed.
I finally got back to nature yesterday. Here's a ring-necked pheasant cock that started running when he saw my car stop: Haulin' Tail by David Stephens, on Flickr

A different kind of bird. F22 Raptor.
Funny how every shot I have of this airplane, it looks fake. The camouflage does some really weird things to the eye!

Well, I must admit, I missed the first bird. This one hesitated a second.

Also, this photo is only half mine. During my wedding, I let a friend use my camera to practice since she's working towards getting her own camera. She took some pretty decent photos and I just edited them.

Great kite shot Ed.
We had a great snow here yesterday, dry and powdery, so I went out to shoot again and not a thing with fur or feathers was moving, so I shot Cherry Creek and did a B&W conversion. This is an simulation of Ilford. Cherry Creek Tributary by David Stephens, on Flickr
