What Sat Nav Version installed?

Hi all,
Just picked up my 23 Z4 yesterday, very nice car, blue of course, 18 inch alloys, 293 multi spoke type, and debadged.

I also have the idrive sat nav, 609, fitted. I checked the version of it and its 2008 02. I thought 2009 02 was out so this surprised me.

I wonder if anyone else could check their version too, thanks.
Also if we all have 2008 versions, will we get a free upgrade to the new version?

It seems that all hard drive based sat nav versions have 2008-02 installed. There was discussion on the UK e90 part of this forum about this.

So what the chances of a free update then, when it comes?
I take it then that there is no DVD disc with it?

It also seems to be unknown whether we the owners can update (the manual does say we can do this by putting the DVD in the drive), or whether it needs to be done by the dealer! A chap on the UK part of the E90 forum recently got a new M3 saloon and it had the 2008-02 version. He got the dealer to look into things, but not sure if there was an update yet. If you manage to find anything out, keep us updated.

On UK Sat Nav systems, what unit of measurement is the scale of the map in? Mine is showing yards, and I wondered if it can be changed to metres?

Hi all
Dealer phoned me today after emailing someone at BMW UK ref sat nav version and said that the update disc is being worked on and released soon and was also told there would be no labour cost to update the system.
However he said there was no mention of cost to the dealer so he was not sure if it would be completely free!
Said he will find out and phone back, let you know when he does

Is it something we can do if we obtain the disc, or does the dealer need to re-program the car I wonder...?
