Anyone else have a GF/Wife who hates curvy roads?
This is starting to annoy me.
My girlfriend has below zero tolerance for anything involving a curve taken at above 20mph. She gets scared we are going to crash and says her head hurts when I take corners "quickly" (which in reality, is about 25-30mph). Basically, any kind of backroads are just out of the question. I would love to do some road trips or something like a Euro Delivery trip, but the entire drive would just suck. It's even stranger because outright speed doesn't bother her in a straight line. It's just curves. Elevation changes, in particular, really bother her. She likes cars, she'll even try to race me for fun when she's in her car. It's just a curvy road/being a passenger thing. I'm almost wondering if it's a medical condition like vertigo or something. Seems like it doesn't affect her when she's driving as much (maybe a control thing)? Either way, it's really f*cking annoying. Last edited by paradoxical3; 10-05-2013 at 12:08 PM.. |

My girlfriend gets nervous, but shes learning to deal with it. She knows I'm not going to slow down so she learns to accept its going to happen every time I drive my car.
I did date a girl who got really car sick when going "fast" through twisty mountain roads. She wasn't around for long.

Yeah I think it's a trust thing. I'm the same way. If I don't know how the person handles curves, I would be scared too- not to the point of freaking out but I would tell them to be careful.

Yes.
Agree. Concur. This may facilitate the above 3 options.

If you're going to keep her, she'll have to be desensitized. Give her 50 mg of dramamine and go drive Tail of the Dragon at the TN/NC border. After a few runs through there she'll either be fine with it or you'll be single.

Seriously, life is too short to be with people with irrational likes and dislikes. Find a normal chick. They are out there.
My wife judges my drifting on smoothness, length of drift and angle of kick out. Also gives me shit if i miss an apex or if i not smooth enough.

I don't like curvy roads mainly because it means elevation changes and my ears get super sensitive and stuffy and it's painful but it's not because I don't trust my bf's driving or because it's too fast and whatnot
I get stuffy ears from mild elevation changes too so maybe there's just something weird with me? |

If I'm going to do a canyon run, or even a spirited PCH cruise, my wife outright refuses to get in the car anymore.
It's okay, I have a young son.
