Military members effected by shutdown

I have heard that if you are losing part or all of your paycheck due to the shutdown AND you have a direct deposit through a USAA account... USAA is offering interest free paycheck advances.

I am not military and do not work for USAA so I am not promising anything, but I thought if someone was effected here that it was at least worth looking into.

If someone that is military could chime in and debunk or enforce this please do!

We're supposed to be fine through all of this. A handful of base amenities are getting shut down, but for the most part we're fine. Then again, we won't find out for sure until the 15th on the next paycheck lol.

This didn't hit the military members (they should still get paid), so this doesn't apply anymore.

However, USAA is saying that if the next issue coming (the debt ceiling) hits military pay, they will offer zero interest advanced payroll loans. The link below shows details. Only applies to active duty military.

Military personnel will not be affected financially... this month, lol but the civilian government employees, military spouses that work on post, and some of our assets that are provided to us by civilian contractors have been put on hold until further notice, unfortunately.

I hope those who have to suffer through this financial hardship can recover quickly

I hope this leads to smaller government, but i know that's a pipe dream.

I hear you. It seems as though the working man is becoming more and more expendable in the eyes of capital hill.

It's a shame because without the working class like most of us, where would they be? Talk about forgetting where you come from... sheesh, lol

I am glad it currently is affecting the people who serve loyally. Thank you.

But it does affect a lot of civilians that support the military and therefore indirectly hurting the military.

Oh yea, those politicians put into the constitution that they will still get paid even for the government shutdown - so they are in now hurry. Ugh.

It's because the Working Man is in the minority - only 47% of the population is working today. And that includes government workers, who are something like 20% of that.

Reserve drills got canceled. I don't see any of us complaining though, lol.

Active duty pay shouldn't get affected. If you were paid on the 1st, then you should receive the rest of it on the 15th.

NavyFederal was doing something similar back in 2010 when the pay threat happened.

Well turns out that if any service members die in combat anytime soon their families won't be getting any money. Think about who you vote for in the next election people.
