[QUOTE=MDLFCS;7634043]From what I have seen here, the BMW version provides coverage for both the center and two hoops, however with mesh material.
The roadster solutions offers just the center coverage with a solid piece. The link that KrisNL (justroadster) provided is a one-piece deflector that covers across the rear section, including the two hoops and the center in solid plastic. I am also wondering how all three solutions work in comparison, especially on the way they are mounted. I second that. I need to order one of these in the next few weeks but I'm not sure which. The "justroadster" is not only larger, covering both the roll bars and center, but it also has a tint option and is considerably cheaper even after shipping from the UK. However the Roadstersolution is more compact and will fit in my luggage for my upcoming ED. They also claim on their site the covering the roll hoops is not necessary because the seat effectively does that for you. Thoughts ??? |

THe mesh ones work well enough for me. I'd consider a plastic one if it clipped onto the OEM mounts from BMW........they look pretty nice.

There is small amount of wind come in from the hole of the anti-roll bar. I tested it this morning with 100km/hr. But I think even with the one from Justroadster, there still have some wind slip in from the place between the window & the anti-roll bars. |

Are you sure that Hartge one fits into the BMW mounts?
The photo looks like it has its own mounts onto the original rollover hoop covers... Its not that bad a price though, over here the BMW one was quoted to me at $1200. OUCH! Don't imagine they sell many at that price though...

You need to remove the BMW mounts and reuse the screws to install Hartge's rails for the glass. They also have a version which does not require BMW mount, but I suspect that just includes the needed BMW parts, but that is just speculation, I haven't seen one.

I also wanted the Hartge but it was going to cost me well over $1,000 !!!!!! So, I went with the Roadster Solutions one and I am very happy with it, especially considering it cost about $250.

Found another supplier delivering custom made wind defelctors made on CNC in ESG material (like Hartge).
You can get them with your proper company logo or name engraved too. http://ur-windschott.de

I got mine from Just Roadster about 6 weeks ago (probably it was the very first piece they made for E89). Basically, my experience with it is very positive – installation takes just a few minutes, it works (deflects? ) as promised and it is very easy to keep it clean. I had a tinted one for the price of GBP 105.00 (plus S&H). Some pictures of the deflector are below (as you may see, clear Velcro straps that used for mounting the deflector are almost invisible). And I should recognise that it is more comfortable for me to drive with deflector, especially in the city or in the countryside (with speed below 120 kmh). On highways, when speed is 130-200 kmh, a deflector does not make too much difference.
As to Hartge and ur-windschott – I believe that their products are overpriced. I also would not feel myself comfortable when driving with a heavy piece of glass just behind my neck. Some other sites where you can get deflectors are : http://www.auto-centro.de/shop1/inde...dabweiser.html , http://www.chromline.de/produkte/win...hott-4106.html , http://www.auco.de/redirect.php?site...las-windschutz (all 3 are in Germany), and www.windblox.com (in USA).

Thanks Serge_Ch. I would definitely go for the one you have only it doesn't fit in my luggage and I'll have to transport whatever I get to Munich and back in the rather small Roadster Bags. I'll check out the other links, thanks again!

To each his own, but I respectfully disagree for the following reasons: 1. It's tempered glass, which means it doesn't brake in shards but crumbly, 2) you're surrounded by glass on all sides in the cabin, not the least of which is the rear window that's only a couple of inches further away and made of the same material, 3) you're just as likely to be injured by plastic or metal in the cab, bodywork or frame if you get in a wreck.
