Cup Holder - Any Mod's?
Does anyone use the cup holder on the passenger side? It seems to go unused but would like to hear from you to see if there are other options you can use it for. Was thinking there would be a GPS mount that uses the holder but never did find one.

I always wondered if anyone out there had come up with a creative way to use the cup holder "port".
I actually use the cup holder, as it's BY FAR more usable than the two under the arm rest.

Either iPhone or this:
With the standard, the cup holders under the armrest are essentially useless.

no real solutions for using the passenger cup holder to hold your cell phone. i'm surprised. I like Nicknas's solution but it uses the cup holder under the armrest. Not a good place to have cupholders. they need to be converted to something else

I've always kept my phone (or water bottle) there since I've had the car like others. I haven't actually done any research in the products I would use with the appropriate size, but recently got a new phone that supports wireless charging and have thought about "converting" the cup holder into a wireless charging station. Since there is a 12V outlet near the cup holder in the footwell, I could wire a USB from there to a Qi wireless charging pad that I will have secured in the cup holder. Essentially, am still using it to hold my phone but it now serves to charge it as well.
Something small like this: http://www.amazon.com/PowerBotŪ-Comp...i+charging+pad |

Having just switched from an E85 where the cup holders were worse than useless and situated to dump my beverage onto my leg every time I hit a bump I actually love the one that clips into the passenger side of the console and use it almost every day to hold my coffee on my morning commute. The ones under the cover are useless and put my coffee in danger of being elbowed over onto the passenger seat.
Since it is pretty much right at the car's center of gravity only the most severe maneuvers will cause a slight spill whereas in the E85 even the slightest movement caused spills because of the location so far from the car's center of gravity. |
