Long drive must have's
When you go on a long drive say >= 4 hours what items you put in your car that you just wouldn't leave home without - besides your wallet. For example in my car(s) I alway have a first aid kit and flashlight.

Recently drove up to Munich for a weekend. Normally takes about 5.30-6 hours but because of traffic and construction was more like 6.30-7 hours. Just took a few bottles of water and snacks. All you need really.

I do have a tire gauge, flash light, spare oil, rag, and small tool kit that I always carry in the car. I also take an air compressor for trips needing close adjustment of tire pressures. For general long trips I always take a camera, lap top, magazines, iPod, sun screen, sun glasses, and hat. I did an 11 day, 1600 mile trip when the Z4 was new. Enjoyed every minute of the driving even though only a single day was worthy of top down driving.

iPhone, iPad, Laptop bag with Macbook Pro & USB AT&T Air card, Camera, a few bottled water, wallet some cash and couple credit cards. Most of my shit are work related items to keep me connected and reachable....Argh!!
Items always in my car: Flash light, tire pressure gauge, couple bottled water, rags & a quick detailer to remove the nasty yellowish/brown bug guts.

3 extra 19" rims.
Lots of chocolate. And some more chocolate, for when the first lot runs out. And a small box of wet wipes (for bug removal while fresh, hand cleaning before re-entering car, and for the peace of mind that all OCD people need at short notice)

I go on 4-5 hour drives on a typical weekend day, sometimes I stop by a nice little beach on the Californian coast, and just take out a book to read for about 20-30 min. Since my iPhone wouldn't have reception in those remote places, a book does the job to kill time.
