Rear-mounted bicycle carrier

Hi,
did anyone install this ?
http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/42...ICYCLE-CARRIER
Any feedback ?

Another question: What is the rear click-on cross member ?

Thanks,

Over a thousand dollars to carry a bike? There has to be a cheaper way?

The whole contraption is just ridiculous, not to mention expensive. Why not put a bike rack on your other car?

Too expensive! I would rather rent a SUV/station wagon for the transportation of my bike.

FYI - I finally settled for this $63 Allen aluminum bike rack.

I wouldn't trust this thing to drive across the states but for a few miles, it is perfect.

This is interesting. I’m investigating the possibilities to transport my bike on the Z. I already have my thule device that is perfect for the job. It’s a light steady device (easy to mount, easy to remove) that mounts on a trailer hitch/hook, but I don’t have a hitch on my Z.

Does anyone know if the “rear click-on cross member” include mounting hardware and trailer hitch? It is very important that the hitch easily can be removed and will be invisible when not in use.

I don’t care about the electric part/connection that normally comes with a trailer hitch since I’m never going to tow a trailer with my Z

sorry - I don't know the answer (I stopped to investigate this solution for it was too expensive). Probably your dealership can answer. I agree with you: a trailer hitch on a Z4 will, most def, look ... uuuh how can I say, and you will very likely get some comments from your neighbours as well

For the moment, it's all good. But I'm driving carefully on smooth pavements and I systematically avoid speed bumps, potholes, etc

Potholes and speed bumps have a way of catching you off guard, as owners of a lot of bent and/or cracked 296 wheels will attest to!
