My f80 for a hellcat
Am I crazy? Maybe..... Thinking of swapping to a dodge... What did I just say. Yep - this setup has me thinking about it. Talk some sense into me.....
It looks pretty nice to me. I guess I need to sit in one. |

A relative of mine has a 6MT Hellcat and LOVES the car. It's also not his only car and definitely not his daily.
He says the car is pretty much just 'stupid' in all the right ways - crazy horsepower, wheelspin everywhere, loud, menacing - but again, as a 3rd 4th or even 5th car...

Sounds great if all you care about is straight line speed. I think the Challenger looks really ugly. The new Mustang looks 100x better.

There is nothing more ugly than this car. I had this discussion along time ago. I wouldn't do it but it's your taste and your money. A car for me needs to be a balance between design and performance. These cars are not for me because of their design. The front looks ugly, the back fender even worst, the tail is horrendous and not to mention the interior, too much for me. Sorry, my taste is a little bit different. But again if that what's make you happy go ahead and buy one. Will you turn heads? Undoubtfully. You are not the only one going from a German piece of art to an American piece of ..... Do you remember the Dodge Demon? Or the old Dodge Dart? Nothing can resemble more. This cars makes me throw up!!!! Maybe go with the GT 350 but get rid of the sequential back turn signals. Still not by favorite car but at least it's better than the Hellcat. MPO

Yeah this car is fugly like every challenger before it. It's all about those new Mustangs coming out. Everything else is just trash.

what bothers me about these kind of american cars is that I feel like they are barely trying when it comes to making them IMHO. The looks is always some kind of cheap remake, those taillights look like they came out of toys r us, the dashboard from the gauges to the screen is all one piece.... is like the look of every pick up truck ever made, it always gives me the idea that they are always trying to recycle some old part so they don't have to come up with a new one. Performance wise is a beast but then again is like the biggest engine you can fit under that hood so what do you expect... other than another 6mile per gallon quarter mile sprinter

Handling has a lot more to do than a skidpad figure. How the car feels in transitions and the reaction to inputs is a big deal. That long top heavy car is not really a great shape to provide fast reactions let alone all the weight and lack of visibility.

I was just referring to his claim that it was only good in a straight line performance... simply not true, as proven by the numbers feel is a completely separate and subjective metric |

My old Evo X circles the skidpad at 1G and goes through the slalom at 71mph - beats out the Hellcat's .92G and 69.9mph slalom. It handles a lot better, nimble at the limit, weighs 800 lbs less than the Hellcat and costs 1/2 the price. Handling is not the Hellcat's strong point.

yup tho while true that just doesn't impress me, I don't care how many more HP or how fast is it if it looks like that.... reminds me when I was in high school the dudes with those old ass 5.0 mustangs... they looked like crap compared to Civics, Supras, Integras, Eclipses... their only excuse was always..BUT ITS FASTER... to each its own

I agree the handling and feel of internal materials will not be the same nor would I expect it to be.
I am surprised (maybe not that surprised) at all the haters of the looks. I think they did a good job holding true to the old school version in a modern time. I do love my F80, the only complaint I have is that at times it feels a little too serious. This car on the other hand might be a little too ridiculous..... who knows, wish I could have both. Hard to believe that 700hp cars will be available to the public for a long time without electric assistance. |
