Some pics after a fresh wash

Had a fresh wash finally. I definitely need to get a good detail and ceramic coating.

Enjoy!

Finished, no. But the Lion's share is done. LSD, custom metal hot side charge pipe, heat wrapped intake box, and custom exhaust are on the list, the latter happening next month. LSD may have to wait to next year.

Who knows. Maybe turbo upgrade in the future, after I finish my e70 map with Dimitri.

Update: Exhaust Done

Another update.

As mentioned earlier, I went with a custom quad tip exhaust. To make it fit right in the diffuser we went with a muffler delete.

It sounded great WOT but was too much as a daily driver, and the drone was just plain stupid. It was so loud that the floor in the cabin would vibrate. I also felt like I lost a ton of low end torque.

About a week or so later we added Magnaflow straight through mufflers. This helped to reduce the overall noise to near stock levels, but I had some bad drone around 2k. I felt like some tq did come back with the added back pressure.

After a week or so I missed the aggression in the muffler delete. The sound had very deep, low pitched rumbles but not the high tone pops. At speed the exhaust tone would disappear.

We decided to swap the stock mid cats for for Vibrant bottle style resonators. The results. Its actually even quieter. Good thing is the drone is completely gone. I have some rumbles, and better pops. At 4k is when the sound really comes in. So far I like it. I hope the lack of cats will help break down the muffler and resonator packing just a bit. I would like it a hair loud / more aggressive. I'm still waiting for the car to adjust before I comment on power gains, tq loss.

Muffler delete video

Some videos of the new set up. AR catless dp, Vibrant resonators, Magnaflow straight though mufflers, custom quad tips.

So on with the review.

PB BRAKES:
The good:

Great high quality product. The fit and finish was spectacular with great attention to detail, for example the coating used on the steel braided brake lines are top notch. It was an extra step that didn't need to be done.

I am very happy with the color, especially against the Satin Hyper Bronze.

Dan from PB was fantastic to work with. Quick replies to all my questions, and fast shipping. The kit came in 3, well packed boxes. The quality boxes, the instructions were all top notch.

The bad: The e89 is more the culprit here rather than the brake kit. The e-brake install was very difficult due to very tight space, and interference with lines. One bad for PB would be that they should have labeled the brake motors, and brackets for each side. There was only a product #, but now way to know which side the component for. This ate up a lot of time due to test fitting, and redoing.

Overall: I love the look, and they feel great. While the brakes have been bedded I still want to ease into pushing them hard. I would definitely recommend.

BRAKE DECAL: David at VIPvinlyworks aka StrictlyGZ was great to work with. I paid $40 for 8 decals. They were great quality and easy to apply.

WHEELS:
I was originally planning on selling all my wheels to pickup a set of Work CR2P w/ stepped lips, but unfortunately 2 of my winter wheels cracked and I had no choice but to keep my current summer wheels.

Since I had to keep my wheels I decided refinish and update. Since I was going with a lime brake caliper I wanted to have a dark finish, with some POP to bring out the Forgestar design. I worked with WheelFixit to come up with a custom color, which we're calling Satin Hyper Bronze. Its really amazing in person. So many different shades and tones depending on lighting, and angle you look at it. I think it pairs nicely with Deep Sea Blue which has the same character. And then you get the lime pop from the brakes, it all just comes together.

Anyways enjoy the pics of my dirty car and wheels. I'll hope to take some better pics once we get through this crappy NY weather.

Oh last thing.

My stock35is brakes are up for FREE. They just need new pads for front, and refinished rotors. Rears were just replaced under warranty a few months ago. Local pickup preferred.

I also want to sell my winter wheels which would be 2 fronts w/ tires. 2 semi new rear wheels, no tires in M3 fitment. 4 tpms, 1 rear wheel w/ tire. All for $400 obo. Local pickup preferred.
What brand of wheels are your silver wheels and what sizes were you using front and rear? How did you like them?

Linea Corse LC818s, and Forgestar F14. The Forgestar have been refinished 3x. Overall they are great . The fitment is in my signature.

LC818 you can find at Wheeldude. They were good wheels, lighter than stock and great value for the price. I'm sorry I don't remember the fitment.

Red, gold, and yellow were just to boring for me. Brembo is doing a bright lime green for many new high end products so it can't be too bad/

I also plan to do custom logo details. Let me know what you guys think.

Hi JTS,

I am extremely interested about your rear e-brake setup, do you mind to shed me a light on how the brake line goes, how/where that little piston like thing mounts etc.

thanks

I run the same rear calliper. See attached. More info here.

As a general rule of thumb, brake pads and tires are far more important than big brake kits. They determine a large part of how your brakes feel as well as your stopping distance.

forgive my asking, are you Chinese? also do you live in Guangdong Province? i visit Shenzhen some time, so may be a cup of coffee?

Only passengers need to use 4 point harnesses at GIC, except at rare events where they waive the requirement. I did install sports seats last year enabling me to use 4 point harnesses, but I ended up going back to stock seats again for several reasons.

Always ready for coffee! My wechat is: xiongbuli

Im a European who has been in China for many years. Usually hang out in Dongguan.
