LUX H8 Angel Eyes video comparison

I posted this video on the 1 series forum, but thought it may also be useful here as the same bulb would be used in the Z4. The video shows the LUX H8 Angel Eyes on the passenger side and the stock halogen bulb on the driver side. Video was shot in fixed exposure mode so that you can get a sense of the actual difference in brightness. The

Install was super easy, and absolutely no error codes or issues with the adaptive headlights.

Would be helpful if you stood back a bit and shot the video from a straight-on angle. Every picture I've seen of Lux LED's show the inner AE glowing noticeably brighter than the outer one. That's barely evident in your video. Has that deficiency been improved or is it just the angle of your shot?

The inner ring does seem slightly brighter when viewing the lights head on, but if you move a bit to the side they look about even in brightness. I believe this is just due to the design of the lights as even with the halogen bulbs the inner ring is slightly brighter. I will take a video further back outside from various angles to help show the difference as well.

The video will compensate the brightness to light exposure, Can't compare unless you shoot both sides in the same view

Inner rings are always brighter, even in stock H8 halogen bulbs.
I have an idea of replacing H8 bulbs with H8 HID Xenon conversion kit of any color from 5000K to 12000K which is 3x brighter. But I haven't tried yet.
The problem is the ballasts may be too big to put inside the case
New conversion kit came with canbus which will show no error msg on board.
Price may be 1/3 of Lux LED

"5000K to 12000K which is 3x brighter" not sure if i understand what you are getting at, but remember that the kelvin temperature does not mean brightness. Brightness and Kelvin temperature are completely unrelated

Xenon is 3X brighter than halogen
Kelvin temp: I learn this from high school in Physics class
Nobody says your Lux AE is not good, but only unaffordable $$$$

I just posted another video showing how the lights look in the daytime. I took this video when the sun was shining brightly from the passenger side of the car.

Be nice if you took from a distance too, but from my personal experience I was pretty happy with their brightness on my Z4. The only issue I had was getting them to stay on and fit correctly. I got frustrated and sold that pair to a guy with a 1M working at Peter Pan BMW.

When I went on a drive with an M3 group 3 weeks ago. Lux looked so much brighter on the M3, that I had to get them again. I heard they fit better on the M3. Did you have any issues installing/fitting them on your 1M?

I emailed Marc at Lux and he said they have made improvements to the design of the bulb and they screw in tighter now. I plan on getting them when I get my car in April after February ED.

Oh that's right, you are getting a new Z4 due to your turbo issues from what I remember. Nice!! Are you changing colors or getting the IS?

+1 - thats correct. We made a minor change so that they now do fit the z4's without a problem at all

Same exact car except I'm getting a 6MT instead of the DCT and Sport Package (should have gotten that originally). At this point, I'm a little wary of the high degree of technology in these cars and I can't see a MT having anywhere near the potential problems that a DCT might have after warranty. I mean, those trannies are $8000!

Excellent choice! You'll love the short shifter on the MT! I only wish my M3 had a shorter throw.
