TVfree OBD II module working
I ordered the TVfree from Andreas at www.prochip.de this tuesday 25/5 and i got it delivered to my door friday 28/5 in the morning. I asked for a quick delivery cause i'm leaving on a Z4-vacation next week with my 6 year old son and i thought it would make the longer legs easier if he could watch a movie.
Andreas said he could not promise but he'd try. Anyway he provides excellent service and recommended UPS. Said and done. Now we can watch DVD's in 200 km/h! Attached Images How to use it: 1. Put the TVfree module in your OBD-port. 2. Turn on ignition. (do not start engine) 3. Press the green button on the OBD TVfree-module once. Do not hold! 4. Your screen will now reboot. 5. After reboot finished, REMOVE TVfree module. 6. Close the OBD hatch. 7. Watch TV or DVD whenever you want. I was going for the one that you install under your DVD-player but i didn't want to tear up the dashboard on my 1 month old car and with Prochip's module you do this in 3-5 minutes without having to take anything apart. I know Prochip is working on a OBD module that ables you to open/fold the top while driving also ( up to 40 km/h ) I'm waiting for it. No wires, No tearing the car apart. So as to appear not completely stupid, I found their English website and read a few things available there. But it wasn't totally clear to me how your version of the device works.
From your photos, that one plugs into your OBD port. So, I assume that you can't play movies while on the go if you unplug it, correct? There's one that installs into your system somewhere. Why didn't you get that one? I'm curious because I know how clumsy I am, and I'd break it off at the port the first I had to stop for petrol.

Nope - you push a button when connected then remove the device. It does not have to be insatlled all the time.

You need to do that if you want to watch to DVD's after you have restart the car, right?

You do NOT have to do this every time you start the car! If you want to remove the setting you have to do the steps again but press the red button. For example before service or inspection by police if it's illegal to watch TV while driving in your area. You can do this as many times you want. Great stuff! dumb question
Hey, I know I might be a little naive, but do you need to have ordered the Tv option when you purchased the car to use the Chip?
I was hoping that this product would allow to watch TV without having choose the option when ordering the car. It was too expensive for me |
