Paint issues
Hey guys! Anyone else with DSB (or any dark colour), and issues with the paint having awful swirl marks? I am using a chamois to dry and microfiber cloths for washing, but still terrible! Suggestions, thoughts appreciated!

Some cheap microfiber towels made in china can leave swirl marks. Are you rinsing the chamois frequently while washing the car?

Dupery it with a drying towel not a chamois, that's where most of the damage comes from, as well washing it with a sponge. Look at using the 2 bucket method. But you need to get the car polished and start again. To make it look better use a polish with a filling agent in it...

Hi ! swirl marks over time will always be an issue with dark colours especially like mine black sapphire! I have just purchased some new detailing swirl remover, cost a small fortune, have yet to try it but the results I have seen have been excellent. The only way is to have a good layer of carnuaba wax and I use a detailer with micro-fibre cloth in between washes........will try to update when I have used the new swirl remover.....
The upside is no other colour looks as good as black when first done!!! wish it would last!!! |

I have the DSB as well. No swirl marks so far (2009). I religiously use black magic liquid wax. It was recommended by consumers guide specifically for black or dark colors because of it's ability to avoid swirl marks. It's a poor cleaner and a pain to buff because it smears like crazy and takes forever to dry. I usually have to wait a day and do a final buff. I believe, though that these are the same characteristics that make it good for avoiding swirls on dark colors. It very non abrasive and never dries to a dry film that can become gritty during buffing. All I've ever used and no swirls so far. It's a love/hate thing.

I use strictly a silicone blade to remove most of the water quickly and then a quality microfiber towel for detail drying for the rest = no swirls of any kind after almost 3 years.
