Z4 Msport brake upgrade with Stoptech rotors Goes to Mosport.
Hey guys.
I've been looking forward to this set for a long long time. Finally pulled the trigger and installed these on my Z4. Bedded it in, and went to Mosport for the 2 day bmw trillium chapter ADS weekend. For the brake parts I ordered them from ECS tuning. I manually looked up all the required parts for upgrading the front caliper and matching 370mm x 30mm Stoptech rotors, dimpled and slotted. Look at how bloody red this thing is! It’s beautiful! ECS is fantastic. they double check my orders and communicate when I’m going to be getting them. Even with parts shipped from Germany I was able to get this delivered to me well before my track day. 5 outta 5. Problem I ran into right away with this installed was that my 18 inch BMW wheels doesn’t fit anymore. So I bought a set of 19 inch VMR reps from a local shop. BUT IM AN IDIOT and HAVE NO COMMON SENSE. I wanted to try fitting really really wide rear tires for fun. I bought 295/30R19s AD08 for the rear. and much more reasonable 225/35R19 for the front. this will not work needless to say. As you can see, the 295 tires stick out a good inch from the fender. I’ve ran 265 on the rear before with no rubbing. but These are just plain ridiculous. I asked my guy if he can roll the fender, he just looks at me like I’m crazy, and puts the car down on the ground to prove his point. No it’s totally beyond rolling. So with my track day in less than a week I went searching for tires again. This time I found a set of Michelin PSS. 235/35R19 F 255/30R19 R Swap these onto the rims and we are good to go! The rear rim is 19x10, it’s still way too wide for my taste but I couldn’t find VMR in stock for 9 or 9.5 with the time I had. Now I finally get to bed in my brakes and drive the car like it’s meant to be driven. Braking performance is very solid, I was running 35 min sessions 4 sessions a day with no fading issues. Rotor burns blue and gets very hot after the sessions. The Z4 performed very very well on the track. I have KW V3 with H&R sway bar on front and rear. The car corners flat and is very agile. plenty of grip in the dry and catches up in corners to cars with much more HP. Click on my Garage to see full list of mods for this Stage 2 machine. Also took my C63 to Mosport about a month ago. Tons of fun to throw the tail out on the skidpad. Here are some other photos from the event.

nice pics thanks for sharing! Looks like a great day
Have you considered going to a more aggressive street tire? I have the PSS on my M3 in 255 front 275 rear width and it just isn't enough traction. |

Hello,
nice mods. To change brakes on the rear axle with parts of other BMW is not so easy, so most people change only on front axle. I have changed to OEM BMW perfomance parts 370mm of F30 series.

...just an other idea for nice rims. New M437 style of M3/4 does fit with 235/265 and need no spacers. Please see example of a friend of mine.

Did you just buy calipers and disc and bolt them on? If so do you know that part numbers you ordered? I would like to pass this on to my father who would like to do this. thanks, Jim |

unfortunaly it is not so easy in Germany to change brakes. If it is not OEM for this model you need to have a certificate from technical authorities (they also do the prescribed technical check every two years). We have in the german Z4 forum a race team who made a lot of nice tune ups of brakes, mapping, and other set ups. http://www.schmickler-performance.de...bstimmung.html But at the end of the day these are the regular BMW Performance Parts which can be choosed in different colours, but I don't have the part numbers.

This was the product title. Front Stoptech Drilled & Slotted Brake Rotors (370x30) - F30 335i 335xi, F32 435i 435xi (pair) But this pair of rotors were identical, as in the slotted directions are not mirrored for left and right. Doesn't affect performance in anyway, just a minor thing I didn't mind too much.
