How to disable the Nav while driving?

My gf have a E89 Z4 in Asia. I'm trying to help her to disable her Navigation so she can use it while driving.

Every time she try to use the Navigation she have to stop on the roadside, in order to enter/search the destinations. Which is very annoying.

Does anybody know how to disable these feature on the iDrive Nav?

Garage List
Go to this site and select her Z4 Year then the Model she is driving ---> CLICK HERE TO OPEN THE BMW MANUAL LINK

Once you select the Z4 Model download the electronic manual. Once the manual is downloaded go to the Table Of Contents and find Navigation.

You will find instructions similar to the one below.

Then e-mail your G/F that should do it unless she is a blonde

I think the issue here is likely local law? BMW disable navigation menus while the vehicle is in motion in some markets. Other than reprogramming (dealer) there's no way to prevent this that I know of.

So, the only way is to disable the navigation menu while vehicle is in motion is at the BMW dealer?

Any hacker or coder out there know how to fix this issue?

Nice, helpful as always Rolf. The OP isn't asking how to USE his nav, he's asking how to use it while THE CAR IS IN MOTION. By the way, my wife is blond and probably a helluva lot smarter than you.

OP...you need to make adjustments to the code, probably via the ODBII port. You can try prochip.de and ask for Andreas. I have a code change to my Z to enable DVD's to play while the car was in motion (for my son to watch his DVD's on road trips).

Does her car have voice control? Perhaps that is permitted and she could learn to us that? Here in the UK only the DVD is prevented while moving, Nav, BMWOnline portal etc can still be used while moving.

Go to the coding forum under the E90/E92 pages. There are a couple of folks who will do the coding via the Internet for you.
