(CEL) check engine light on then off?
Drove for 1 session and the light was on, but I didn't feel any weird effects. Then the next day it's gone. Assuming that it doesn't show up again, would you bother to take it in to the dealer? Did this ever happen to you?
I remember a while back I had a message erroneously telling me that a headlight bulb was burnt out, but it was an electric gremlin, not sure if something similar. |

any code can be googled, if your reader doesn't come with a code book.

Ok, trying to catch up, some questions:
-is this the cheapest one, don't need anything fancier (pretty much Nick's reco, slightly cheaper shipping?): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=AUKXLTC4LT7U8 -no adaptor needed? just plug in -is the female outlet just above the hood latch inside the cabin? easy to remove the cover w/ screwdriver? -I found the code list here, not sure if it's sufficient? http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=683744 I was looking at a Youtube video, the guy looked up the error code, found out what it meant, then deleted it: why? Shouldn't he leave it so that the dealer can verify and look it up also? Or he deleted it just to get rid of the CEL? Thx! |

Yes, the OBDII port is near the trunk release inside the car. You can open it with your hand and the reader just plugs in.
There's really nothing to it. Get the cheapest OBDII reader you can find anywhere and it will get the job done. |
