price

i wouldn't be too too worried about price... when sales don't reach their forecasted volume, which they clearly will NOT at this price, there will be incentives on the z4's. i remember not too long ago there were $7k - $10k rebates on the z4 m's.

Outta here....
You are refering to the base Corvette I hope. The Z06 starts at 74K and the ZR1 starts over 100K.

I don't think Z4 has any better residuals than corvettes.

I'm predicting this one will have a better one than the previous.

That's a shame. At $40,000 it would have been the best roadster going for the money. At $46,000, I think many will opt for the Boxster . . . or even Merc.

Folks, you're all getting your panties in a twist when the apples to apples price difference is really that big.

The reality is the price difference for a similarly equipped '08 3.0si v. an '09 sDrive30 (both having the same engine) is $3,900; $48,875 for the '08 and $52,775 for the '09. Of course, that's not chump change, but for folks in this market it's probably not a deal stopper for a new generation car. And, too, for that $3,900 difference you get the folding hard top (which we know may be a bane to the purists, but the majority of buyers will like and it makes the car more of an all season car) and the Adaptive M Suspension.

considering you get the 35 engine and a hardtop convertible, not bad. realize that the z4 is now a car you can drive all year round

And to fit the lower price bracket and the smaller, lighter roadster bracket the Z2 is almost a certainty at this point.

This is honestly disgusting. Price increase would be okay, but im honestly in shock. What were they thinking? I WANT WHATEVER THEYRE SMOKING!

For 47k, there is no way i will get another Z4 after this. No power seats, no leather, not even aluminum trim comes standard?!?!?!? So disappointed.

LOL. Agree.

The reason why I wouldnt buy this is the exact same reason why I didnt go for the Audi TT. Around 60k for a 2 seater? Unless i'm rich enough but then why will I consider the Z4 anymore?

More than likely, it's m3 ($) quality, so it will be around 70

A 35i is in M3 territory...Not to mention Boxster S, SLK55, etc.

Well plus side is there will be good deals and that will push used car prices down more.

Be that as it may, the TT is still a FWD at its heart and it drives like a FWD.

Sounds like most of you guys are going to be Z2 customers. BMW, are you listening?

All of you guys forget that this thing has a tin can folding roof. Look at the price difference between the e92 and e93. its a difference of $10K. Now imagine this. A Z4 coupe would cost ~ 7-10K less than the tin can version. Enough said. It is STILL affordable. I don't care about convertibles to start with, so I will wait for the coupe. Thank you very much

Unless they're idiots they will move on price/financing. Why? I test drove a fairly loaded 2009 Boxster S yesterday ($72K, new nav, PDK 7 speed transmission, heated sport leather seats, Bose surround sound, Bluetooth,...) and Porsche was offering 3.9% financing for 60 months and to move off the sticker price. Amazing car, drove like an absolute dream. BMW needs to get a clue because the competition is already getting aggressive. Loaded Z4 for $66K vs Boxter S for $72K? At that point...screw BMW and go with the Porsche.

You're kidding, right? The pricing is HIDEOUSLY high. This car will be an epic failure in the US at the announced pricing. If they think the new M3 moves off the lot slowly, wait till they see how long these turds sit around gathering dust.

someone is buying them. Have known a guy at my dealer for a long time. He told me yesterday that they got their allocation and the first 2 are spoken for already. Don't have details on which variant and how they are optioned, but two sold already and they haven't officially gone on sale yet.
