Maybe you need to go check out the NSX some more. Prices for that are around $150k. If you've got 150k to spend, 175k isn't a big stretch.

As for the NSX, I expect it to lose badly to the Z06, GT350R, and the GTR.

Also, the pic I saw earlier needs to be fixed. The GT350/R are rated at 500+ hp, not 500hp. Most rumors have it in the 520-530hp range. It's a 400ft-lbs engine that revs to 8200rpm; I think 500hp should be a cakewalk.

I don't really care what any of the specs of the Ford GT entail.

But I already know exactly how I am ordering one. In fact I called 5 dealers and made sure Im on the list when it comes time. Figured I'd cover my basis to "which dealer wants to screw me the least"

Knowing you, I know you're for real! Congrats man, did they hint at what the prices could possibly be?

No word on pricing. I would probably place it around the 220-240k price range.

Expect about a 20-50k dealer markup.

Production run maybe 800 -1000 cars. with each dealer getting 1-2 cars a year

I think personally think that's too cheap. That comes in slightly above 05-06 GT MSRP. The GT doesn't compare with the McClaren, and nor would anyone cross shop them. Most people buying the GT and McClaren have 5+ cars already.

With the increased use of carbon fiber body, carbon ceramic technology (first ever for Ford) and 10 years of inflation, I could see it at a base of 200k. Which seems like a bargain compared to going 2006 GT prices. What will depend on the price is how much R&D we see over the next year and track testing. 175k would be nice though!

2005 Ford GTs are averaging $350k from what I'm seeing. They're a collectors car that's for sure. I'm sure a couple decades from now they'll fetch $2 million.

They made a little over 4k 05/06 Ford GTs and they were, and still are, awesome cars with a lot of potential in them. I hope the new Ford GT will be even better than the last.

And I'm sure the car will have a premium price added to it and $50k extra will be the norm for this car....minimal. Since dealers are douche bags and people will pay that extra price.

You are smoking crack ;P There is absolutely no way you are going to get the new Ford GT for 175k.. I would be shocked if its under 200k.. 250k with the markup .. and the Acura is going to come in at under 150k (150 lightly optioned). So yea, it will be significantly cheaper. And there is no comparison between either of these cars and the GTR, Z06, etc. Performance, yes. Near supercar status, no.

We will see what the performance figures come out to be.

Don't get me wrong, I would get the Ford GT in a heartbeat over the NSX if they were within 25k of each other. Hell, maybe even 50k. But the GT wouldn't be worth more than that difference (to me!).

No joke on this. I went to Mecum in Austin in December and there were 3 there.

One sold for 255k, another for 310k, and the GT Heritage Edition didnt sell (bidding stopped at 400k)

So what do you think this will weigh? The previous gen GT weighed in at 3350 lbs and this one looks to be considerably lighter. Dare I say around 3000-3100?

Ah, another clueless car-noob running his mouth on m3post, go figure.

Based on the fact that it will be underpowered, under-tired, and no longer has the suspension advantage that it had back in the 90s. It's going to get its ass kicked. Mark my words, but I'll make sure you don't forget, kid.

looks like ferrari and lotus had a baby and slapped a ford badge on it.

this is not the same ford i grew up with that only made the taurus, white convertible mustang 5.0s and 50 kinds of trucks.

these guys are getting kind of serious about making good cars.
