Wheel weight

Being new to a Z4 I'm finding it very hard to source information about anything on the car. My question today is does anybody know the weight of the stock 17 x 8 wheel. My car is a 2010 3.0. Hard to look for lighter alternative wheels when you don' t know what the stock ones weigh.

The stock wheel and run flat tire combo is pretty heavy. My stock 18s weigh more than my 19s. Look into Forgestar or TE37 if you want a light wheel.

Yeah as it seems the E89 platform and similar do not have a lot of same kind of owners as the E85 and prior did. On those forums you could find out how to remove things like seats to replace bushings to replacing water pumps etc. On this forum for the E89 there is a limited amount of info available so finding things like wheel weight is likely not avail. I encourage you if you find out (probably the hard way by doing it yourself) to break through the barrier and post a how to on it. sorry and thanks.

My guess is that due to the overall $$ of the car, as well as many of us having extended warranties, that data will eventually trickle out here as those run out. There is a ton of data on the n54 on other forums - so all is not lost....

Check out this link for the different wheels with weights available for BMWs. TireRack will give you the weight of the tires.

http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/Z/Z4-E89

Typical wheel for 2010 3.0 runs about 12 kg (26.4 lbs). Then add on the RFTs, another 26 lbs for Potenza RE050 and you've got yourself a pretty heavy set up.
