Hi, I don't have the option to purchase PSS here in Argentina but I have the Pilot Sport 3. Any comments or advice on that matter?

It grips well above average, but it is prone to puncture in my friends experience. Also the rubber might start cracking and comming off in pieces if you use it for drifting. I guess it is a rather soft summer compound.

Go to www.tirerack.com and filter for tires that are in the "streetable competition" and "extreme performance" categories and buy whichever one you can that's in your country

There is some description inflation so if it says "ultra high performance" that means it might be ok for a budget tire, "max performance" means it's a good commuting tire, and "extreme performance" means it will be fun and ok for autox street tire classes and instruction days at the track.

Avoid anything that says "all season".

I run about 36F and 38R on my PSS tires and they grip the road like glue.
It actually makes me a little sad since I can't burn out anymore without "burnout control" engaged.

I've just switched from the Ridgedstone RFT tires as well, to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ and love them... so now the question is, what do you guys do for a tire repair kit incase of a flat.
I'm not really interested in getting AAA or a service. I know BMW has a tire mobility kit that's around $130ish, and there are other options out there such as tire slime, plugs etc... I'm not big on the idea of shooting liquid into the tire and potentially gumming up the TPMS, but its better than being stuck on the side of the road.

What are the options you have gone with when changing to non-RFT? And have you had to use it?

This is the route I took https://www.amazon.com/Slime-70005-S...repair+kit#Ask
supposedly safe for TPMS sensors. Gets good reviews and is WAY cheaper than BMW or Continental units. Never had to use it though.

Nice thing about Michelins is that they come with a 3 year roadside assistance warranty. They will tow you up to 150 miles at no charge. Might not be the greatest but at least if you have a blow out that Slime won't fix or if you just don't want to gunk up your tire it offers you another option.
I too always carry a Slime Kit and have never had to use it.

Optimal Tires for Z4

When I bought my Sdrive35i (manual gearbox) she had new Bridgestone tires from the BMW dealer and ~12k miles on the clock. First, I didn't care for the ultra low profile look. Then I read there was a lawsuit about these 19" wheels failing. Well, sure! Tiny rubberband tires on LA roads and the thing rides like a rock with factory recommended high pressure.

So, after much research I came up with the lightest and most comfortable high performance tires I could find. Installed Continental Extreme Contact DW tires 245/35 front and 275/35 rear. Not only does the car look better and more aggressive, but it now rides with the smoothness of my SL Mercedes and comparable to my Z8. Gone are the jarring impacts and most of the creaks one hears with the hardtop up.

Pushed into a turn the car grips that much better with these fatter tires as one would predict.

It's a win-win all the way around! Better ride quality. Greater rim protection. Better handling and braking. I can't recommend this tire swap enough. I ditched my brand new OEM tires for these and couldn't be happier!

Those are pretty much the same comments everyone here makes about going from RF Bridgestones to any good non-RFT regardless of rim diameter. Not sure your "fatter" sizes have much to do with the amazing results. I can say the same about my standard size 18" Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions. However, the benefits may be more noticeable on those 19" "crackable" 296s!

Actually, your smaller 18" tires have a notably smaller contact patch. E.g., front with just 8.1" and rear 9.2" versus my 8.6" front and 9.5" rears, and they have less profile to them, so they will tend to ride harder and the tire patch is smaller both in terms of width and length. Bigger tire patch equals better braking and handling.

Tirerack test between Continental and your Bridgestone rated Conti's best out of four with much better Conti performance in ride, noise, dry lap time and braking.

Despite my bigger tires they weigh less than yours by 4 pounds for each front tire. As they are rotating weights the formula most use is that for each pound of tire weight added it's like adding four pounds to the vehicle. Adding 8 pounds of UNSPRUNG rotating tire mass is like adding another 32 pounds to your Z4.

So, larger tire patch, less rotating and unsprung weight, taller tires and greater rim protection, smoother ride. Win-win

Point here is you can run 19" wheels and have a ride better than the small wheeled Z4s and fix the problem the roadtesters complained about....poor ride quality and the DW Extreme is the best tire I could find after much research.

I have the 19" M wheels on my 11 35is.
Can someone please guide me on the tire pressure to keep so as to have the TPMS work as intended.
Fronts are 225/35/19
Rears are 255/30/19

Thanks All.
Jake.
Which 19" wheels are you running? .
