Will M4 Wheels fit?

Hi guys. I am planning to get myself a birthday present and currently looking into BMW M4 style 513 wheels. The rim sizes are:

2x 9J x 18 ET 29 LK. 5x120
2x 10J x 18 ET 40

They come with PSS all round (275 width at the back). I was wondering is someone can please let me know if those would fit on the Z4 e89 35is with not rubbing/spacers etc? Thanks a lot in advance!

I am pretty sure I was the first person to try this. Yes they fit. I have them on my car.

Thank you so much for such a quick response! I was just worried because they seemed to be 10 inch wide in the rear. Thanks! It is going to be an awesome birthday present for myself Your car looks fantastic btw!

Is that the largest dimensions that will fit a z4? I take it would not be possible to move up to 9.5 front 10.5 rears.

for example

9.5 x 20f on 265/35/20
10.5x 20r on 295/30/20

I really do wonder what is the largest wheel/tire setup that the z4 can handle.

I assume you used some pretty massive spacers?

The +18 offset shouldn't be enough I thought.

I thought 18 was the rim size. The offsets are 29 front and 40 rear from my first post

Correct. The wheels will fit fine, but tires might not. Your safest bet would be to run 245/40/18 in front and 275/35/18 in the rear.

Please post up pics if you end up getting these. I am curious how they look on the E89 chassis.

Of course I will. The process however will take me a while. I will have to order the wheels from Germany (we do not get them in the UK, only 19"). The price is a bargain though. Then I will need to get the suitable tyres. I will definitely post some pictures.

I know most people like huge wheels which fill the gap, etc., but I always liked the smaller wheels with thicker tyres

Depends on the offsets, but Z4 can handle 9.5 front with offsets from 20-30ish and 10.5 with offsets from 30-40 (might hit something from the car side with high offsets) BUT you can not run such tire combos, front will take 235 with some camber and rear would have to be 275 or 265, 255 for minor modifications.

edit: you can find several people running M4 wheels on Z4 @ zroadster.com, plenty of pictures too.

I did not use any spacers. They bolt right on and sit flush.

I feel the same way. I very much like the look of smaller wheels and thicker tires. I moved to 18" wheels on my M3 and don't see myself going back to 19s. Definitely looking forward to seeing these wheels on your car.

Unfortunately, that site is German, so it's hard to know which thread to click on to find photos. Do you have any hyperlinks?

Also, I'm surprised to hear that the car can accommodate a 9.5" et 20 wheel in front and an 10.5" et 30 in the rear. That is far more aggressive than what I thought it would take.

Happy Surprised as I am leaning toward a set of M6 GC 433M OEM wheels 9.5x20f 10.5x20r is why I asked. The tires that i listed in above post are OEM which wouldn't, but good to hear the wheels would.

real OEM

it's doable, not for fast driving tho. You propably might need small spacers in front to prevent wheels hitting shocks. And rear is really aggressive so you need some camber and 255 rubber so its gonna be stretched a lot.

Which wheels are you referring to? A 9" et 29 front wheel will not hit the strut on the inside. A 245 tire should be sufficiently stretched on that rim to clear without the need for a spacer, but this may depend on the brand/model of tire.

He is referring to the M6 20' wheels 9.5f/10.5r Which basically are close to impossible to put on without altering the car.

Well, it just occurred to me that I can take a 1 cm tick thing on my tires and rotate it on a lifter. That should test that thickness, and the actual tires thickness is documented by the vendor.

i have to say that if I can't do 245mm in the front then the whole master plan of going with a square setup falls down. 235mm in the back? Mumble. Not even cheaper.

Thanks. That's an impressive build!

I noticed you are running 225/40/18 Front & 275/35/18 Rear. Is there a reason you aren't running 235 front and 265 rear?

I wanted as wide as possible in the rear. The problem was Pirelli didn't make a 235 for the front in the tires I wanted. So instead of going with a different kind I just went with the 225 up front so I could have the 275 in the rear. Pirelli is odd with the sizes they make in certain tires. Some they have every size possible and others they seem to only make a few sizes. Also I did not want to run spacers so with the options they had for the tires I wanted it was either run the 225 up front or run the 255 up front with spacers.
