Thanks, anyone else using Ceramic, having issues. I'm going in on Monday to get mine done. The shop says they do a ton of BMWs no problems. The issues in the forums seem to be predominantly with Ms and back around 2007 time frame.

Fl cyclist,
I too have been worrying about this issue. To date, I have not had any scratches in the tint. With the windows constantly opening and closing each time the door opens with the Z, this would lend itself to scratches early on especially along the bottom 1-2 inches of the window. . If this does happen, I will take the door panels off and as I did with my Acura, I will line the rubber water seal that rubs against the window with Moleskin. This soft cotton material has adhesive on the back side and adhere to the seal nicely to stop any potential scratching. I had this on my Acura for 4.5 years and it worked great. You can buy in on amazon and/or other on line retailers in small rolls and cut it to size as need.

Went ahead with the Johnson's Insulator Ceramic tint and I can report CA works exactly the same as before the tint. So no issues

Man, that is dark. I had a previous car that I had when I was in TX, tinted to 25% which is TX legal. When I lived in MA with that car, I could not pass inspection at two different places because of it, and I had to strip the tint. When I got my 335i (still in MA), I only dared to tint it 30% (Huper Optik ceramic), knowing that I was moving in half a year. Now that I'm back in TX, I got the legal 25% on the Z4 (FormulaOne Pinnacle ceramic) because it's just not worth the potential issues personally.

Right there... that's why I wont tint my windows. When they stop making the film out of pure lead, I might give it a try.
Hmm... now that the spam has been removed, my comment makes even less sense than it did before. Future readers, I swear it at least made a little sense. Last edited by SgtGigglebox; 05-02-2013 at 09:20 PM.. |

MA State law allows 35% tint max. I went with a slightly NON legal 15%. For my inspection the top and windows will be down. They cannot force me to have the top and windows up, as it is not part of the inspection. The cool factor (for me) was too good to pass up. No issues seeing during the day nor more importantly at night. No Comfort Access issues as asked in the thread.
Next on the list- just got my new Stubby and H8 LED's are on order.
