E92 Lease Is Up; Time for a Z4?

The lease is up on the 07 E92 so I am looking at options and seriously thinking about a CPO'd Z4 Roadster. (I dont want to lease again and have to worry about mileage etc.)

Looking at an 06 3.0i Z4 with 15K on it or an 07 M Roadster w/30K on it. (The 06 is much cheaper, of course.)

Any thoughts on the diffference between these two cars beyond what I get from the test drive? Anything I should watch out for? Common issues with these cars?

I would think that an 07 3.0si would be a great medium to your two choices, on both price and specs

Of course the M is the one that I would get just because it is so monstrous... but it also get much less for gas mileage, and would be closer to being out of warranty, and will cost more anyway.

You could probably find a 3.0si roadster with near 30K miles for under $30K pretty easily.

The differences will be apparent in the test drive, and that is just about the whole story. I had a salesman, when buying my car, tell me that once you drive the M you will most likely buy it, even if it is not the smartest choice based on your needs. It is just a lot more fun to drive.

Completely agree. I was very close to leasing a leftover '08 3.0si when I started thinking about a used Z4. I noticed used M's were going for very reasonable prices and gave one a try. All the caveats I had about the si were addressed in the M. End of story. The engine in the si is perfect and I would have been happy had the handling feel been the same as the M. You simply must drive both and see which one does it for you.

I'm a //M fanatic and I will give you a word of caution. Once I owned my first //M no other BMW compared to me. I even bought a 335i Coupe when it first came out and got rid of it after less then 6 months. The feel of the //M will spoil you. If you don't want every other car to be a //M then don't even test drive one.
