The reason I mentioned that it worked well with leftovers is that in most current engine compartments it's difficult to find a stable position to rest a packet of uncooked food close enough to the exhaust manifold to actually cook it.

Good point. I definitely need to get under the hood of my car and see how much space I have to work with.

Sounds like a great little activity, will be exploring it some more!

BBQ ribs with a sweet potato and Coke Zero...

When I drove through usa the first time around, wyoming was the show stopper. I can't even tell where there I've been, since every time I lose all sense of time and I haven't minded the miles.

The last time around I was coming from the southeast corner and on my way to yellowstone. That road puts most of Europe to shame since there was nobody around and I had a fun little toy car Peter under me. I got to yellowstone and turned back just to drive it one more time.

All of wyoming makes me think of freedom and liberty. That particular road made me think of my last will and testament too.

Drive slowly and safely op, or as I have, have a good lawyer who can easily ad to your will from the road! (I had to wake up the fucker friend of mine just to tell him I'm wearing an awesome shirt that's covered in sweat since I'm having so much fun and he can have the shirt if he takes my kids up to that road one day!)

Taking into consideration everything said in this thread, how does this updated route look?

This includes some of the following POI: Red River Gorge, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Jackson, Zion, Bryce, Monument Valley, Sedona, Grand Canyon, etc.

Do you think the scenery in the above route justifies spending an extra $300 on an already tight budget? [In comparison to route I initially planned, which is:]

Could go Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis. Chi-town is cool. Milwaukee is awesome. Lake, beer, and beer. Twin cities. All that and zero pig farms.

When I've travelled to Spearfish SD I always went through Chicago. 1 time seeing Iowa/Nebraska was enough for my lifetime. Don't miss Devils Tower either. About 45 min from spearfish. Watch "Close Encounters" before the trip.

Between Souix Falls and Spearfish is Wall Drug. It's similar to South of the Border without the Mexican theme. A must stop. And don't miss crazy horse. Similar to Rushmore but an Indian on a horse being carved by 1 guy.

Very excited
