Bmw z4 M
Does anyone think BMW should make a z4 M to compete against other german supercars such as the audi r8?

Simple answer, no. The R8 starts at $115k (and can easily hit $150k with a few options) while the Z4 starts at $48k. No matter what BMW does to it, no one is going to pay $100k+ for a Z4. The new i8 is supposed to go against the R8.

I'd love to see an E89 M Roadster and one (will most likely) be forthcoming at some point. The last two M Roadsters, BMW said they wouldn't build and they did. They said the rumors of an M version of the X5 were false and then they released it. So on n' so on. With their track record, a new M Roadster looks like a real possibility.
That all being said, I don't think it would be competition for something like the R8 exactly. The M Roadster has always been a simple transplanting of an M3 engine into a Z. Dropping a 414 Horsepower engine into a Z doesn't exactly make it a direct / huge threat to the 560 horsepower R8. |

Big mistake in my opinion ... perhaps the marketing people at BMW have there eye on more turnover on the Japanese market. I am sure you saw this ---> CLICK TO OPEN |

HaHa, you aren't kidding! I had to go to Singapore on business quite a few times last year. To kill time, I popped into a BMW Center there. Wow......those out the door prices hurt my eyes. That being said, there were a TON of BMWs being driven around town.

Also, with electronics controlling power to the wheels what good would it do? And if you shut it off, most of us would end up dead in a ditch. |

It's funny because my Aunt lives in Australia and I mentioned to her I got a Z4 and when she looked it up she was shocked at the price and thought I was ballin out of control over here in the US. I'd still not pay $100k+ for it. I'd love to see it and if they can price it around $80k-$85k, maybe $90k the most, then it could sell. But to compete head on with the R8, simply isn't going to happen. I'd take the R8 w/o hesitation if the price were the same as the Z4M.
