Z4 M performance question...............
Have a 2011 35is and the lease is up in May 2013. Love the car and thinking about options to tide me over until next gen M3(4) comes out. Could keep this one, but thinking about a new one, different color with LCI refresh. I have read where the refresh is coming in the spring production. However, read that there will be an M performance Z4 that will debut at Detroit in Jan which will replace the 35is. The article sounded to me like it would have the N55 engine from the M135 with 320hp. I love the N54 in the current car, seems like a bit of a step back in performance? Plus, how much more M will the performance model be than the current car, and how much more $? Kind of wish they were just continuing with the 35is and give it a refresh, but I guess I need to wait and see exactly what they do. Any thoughts or info? Thanks

If we look in the past, all Z4 M had an M3 engine and the M version usually come out just a few years before they change styling for the z4 as well. I hope they will put an M3 motor in it. If they run a N54/N55 motor then they are just really lazy. There is no point in having an M car when it doesn't have a real M motor

Agree, although the N54 in the Z4 35is is the exact same engine in the 1M Coupe'. All they really need to do is tweak the suspension and brakes on the 35is and call it M performance or whatever! Since Rahal-Letterman is running a Z4 in ALMS this year, maybe they should put the S63 in the thing until the complete redo comes along! Thanks for the input, guess I will just wait and see what happens in the next couple of months.
