I just ordered my 35i and opted for the 325M wheels and followed the same reasoning you did. I think they look great on your space gray!

'Nother Noob

Hi All,

We ordered a replacement roadster for my wife's '97 Z3 2.8 with 170K miles on it. Her new 2011 35i Deep Sea Blue Metallic/Black M-Sport is being built this week. Our dealer called with the VIN Thursday. We opted for the 6-speed and 325M wheels. Here is a 'corporate' pic:

Hope to have some REAL pics by the first week in July. The Z3 is going to live in CA and the new Z4 will be her daily driver here in Tucson.

I really wanted to go with a manual, and decided to try the lighter weight NA engine in the 30, but I do miss the effortless torque from the 335 that I just traded in. Please post your views about the DCT IS versus manual 30i when you've been driving for a while. My lease is only two years and if I decide to stay with an impractical car, I'll give the IS some serious thought.
What's with the "old" thing? You are never too old, I will be 61 by the time this car comes in and I have no worries about pulling it off. Hell every guy I see go by in a sports car is a "well preserved". As for the Auto i did have some reservations, but wanted my wife to be able to drive, kind of makes up for the Harley i just bought, and the 335HP kind of makes up in my mind for the lack of the manual tranny.

Hi all,

I picked up my '09 Z4 sDrive 35i last week and enjoying it since! Bought it from a BMW dealership and it has allmost all available options. Some pictures:

During the first days of driving a came around a (hopefully minor) issue:

- It seems to take very long to reach an engine temperature of 120 C (the center position). Is this normal? Also, if driving slow/cruising on the motorway it does not reach this temperature at all: is this normal?

Thanks, you are correct on both counts. 1st day out on the town and I hit a pothole that was so deep it not only scratched the rear wheel but took a chunk out of the tire as well. This after 1900km through europe and no rim damage... roads here suck and are symbols of a much bigger problem. Anyway, had the rim fixed and I'm much more cautious now, so far so good. Black is a B*tch, no doubt, but she's a garage queen. I don't drive it in the rain and I have her detailed once a month from a shop that has earned my trust.

It's normal. Your gauge is reading oil temperature, not coolant temperature. I had the same concern when we first started driving our Z.

Sounds like you're all set keeping it clean. I'm jealous. Sorry to hear about the wheel damage. i would have thought roads were better in Seattle since you don't get the extreme temprature variances we get in the Northeast. I think its the forst heaves that create problems here.

3 things cause the bad roads here. The rain as it erodes every crack it finds, population explosion and really cheap patch work by the DOT. The roads are actually much better outside the city.

Hi. I'm Daniel from Orange County. 27yo.

I'm not going to post a picture because my 35i looks like every other black on black, but I'm sure that will all change soon and I'll reintroduce myself then

Waiting on my Alpine on Coral, I think this is a very unique but most desired combination? So far have not seen too many Z4's on the road lately, I live in North Jersey too, also not many with the Msport kit with that type of combination. My build should be complete on June 27 and I will receive it at the dealer near July 10?

Very Excited!

Definitely a big difference to my 525i E39 lol

Any tips on convertibles? This is my first time...

Ignore what other people may think. Just enjoy.

And go topless whenever possible.
My roof only gets used when it rains or I park it in public.
Driven it in -3 C to 44 C so far.

(Thats 27 F to 111 F for the non-metric amongst you)

And carry some baby wipes in the boot (great for cleaning hands, bonnet bugs, and the occassional bird's opinion.)

Noob - Just Leased '11 Z4 35i - DCT

Hello all. Glad to be here. I just leased my '11 Z4, sapphire black with beige interior (sorry no pictures yet), DCT, NAV, sport and cold weather packages.

I'm coming from an '11 M3 convertible lease. I did like that car alot, but the electronic glove box failed 4 times! The dealer was more than happy to replace the component, but I was done with it. The Z4 has your standard issue mechanical glove box.

Most people ask how can I give up an M3 for a Z4, I say, because the M3 convert. was heavy (over 4100 lbs), with that said, the Z4 35i has almost identical performance numbers and is better looking in my opinion. In daily driving the Z4's torque make it faster from stop light to stop light. The M3 definitely wasn't intended to be a convertible from the ground up like the Z4, as it had noticeable chassis flex. I will miss the amazing sound the engine made though.

BMW corporate did help me get out of the M3 and into the Z4, so I can not complain about the customer service.

Again, nice to be here... love my Z4!

Saw on the BMW site that my Z is finally in production!! The wait goes on.

Finally took delivery! My car sat at the port in Germany for 2 weeks waiting for a ship. Then once it got here, it sat at the port for another 2 weeks waiting for a replacement antenna!!! After all of the anticipation, here she is. And she's gorgeous. Tinted windows+lights to come. Also z4 badge delete.

First UK Z4 sDrive28i order

Hi all, I've been reading the forum for a few months, it's a mine of info and opinion, many thanks.

Recent new car history; S2000 (2002), Boxster S (2004), 335i MSport Coupe (2007).

I placed my order yesterday for a 2012MY Z4 sDrive28i, Deep Sea Blue with plenty of options - happy to list them if anyone is interested. I am told by my local BMW dealer that this is the 1st UK order for a 28i, verified on BMW's manufacturing portal - week 36 production, hoping for delivery in October.

I will post some pictures in the official DSB thread in due course. I found out plenty of info about the 2012 models as part of the ordering process as well - there is not much public info on the web at present.

Roll on October !

You'll love the 30i has plenty of go. Unlike my previous 328i. Oh, and it sounds great too
